Venezuela anti-government rally turns deadly

Across town, Maduro told his supporters that he would not back down in the face of what he said was a conspiracy by opponents to provoke violence and destabilise his government.

"A Nazi-fascist faction has emerged that wants to take Venezuela down the path of violence," the 51-year-old former bus driver said. "What we're going to have is peace and prosperity."

Protests also took place on Wednesday in other cities, including Merida and San Cristobal, where students have clashed with police in recent days.

Merida's Mayor Carlos Garcia told the AP news agency that three people were injured by gunfire in protests on Tuesday after a group of hooded government supporters began firing into the crowd.

Maduro on Wednesday acknowledged the incident, but told supporters that those responding to the opposition's violent provocations were not true revolutionaries.

Human rights groups on Tuesday denounced a government crackdown on peaceful protests, which has led to the arrest of 13 anti-government activists in the past two weeks on "anti-terrorism" charges.

We should be a lot less concerned with Syria and a lot more concerned about the western hemisphere.

I agree.

For one thing, Iran is all throughout VZ (Iranians run the VZ oil biz since Hugo drove out other companies) so it’s even a security issue for us. Ooops, I forgot that our US president is probably the biggest lover of Iran in the hemisphere.

Also, one of the reasons VZ is doing so badly, even though it has huge oil revenues, is that it has (a) destroyed its domestic economy and driven out business and (b) sends a huge percentage of its oil revenues to Cuba and other leftwing countries throughout the world.

We’ve got to start paying attention to VZ, Ecuador, Bolivia and all the other newly leftwing countries in LatAm, but it’s never going to happen as long as Left Wing Bambi is president.

You don’t need near as much toilet paper if you cut your food intake back to zero.

Yes, the Cuban colonists "running things" in Caracas are certainly adept at operating under the radar of our Legacy Media. It's a damn shame folk have to turn to the La Voz de al Qaida for information.

To sum up, Communist scum took over Venezuela in 1998, and they have maintained power primarily by enriching their purged military officer corp.

As the events in Caracas and elsewhere, here are the people that the Chavistas are calling "fascists:"

And here are the governments brave defenders...

And here are some of the results.

If he has to kill them all to get it.

The government is now carrying out a dirty war against the opposition, it is to be expected that the commie media would make the dictatorship into the victim

Arguably, how could it not be a concern?

In either event, on the reading list for the course you recommend are all of Travis McGee's novels.

Translation: "The people are fed up and taking to the streets. We will kill as many as we need to."

Maduro should read a little about Venezuelan history. In 1956, students and business people rose up and threw out the reigning dictator, the first successful democratic revolution in Latin America (starting at 1950 on upwards).

It could happen again, and hopefully will. This time, I hope they do a Ceaucescu on him.
