81% of people receiving public housing benefits vote Democratic – and that’s just the tip

Perhaps I spend too much time lurking around left-leaning blogs, but there are many myths taken as fact without any additional analysis.

One of the most prominent? The notion that red states take the most aid from the government.

Mitt Romney sparked outrage during the 2012 election for his comments about the “47 percent” of Americans who are dependent on government. Romney was actually quoting the percentage of Americans who pay no federal income tax, not the percentage of people who receive government aid, which is a slightly larger 49 percent.

In an article published before Romney’s gaffe, liberal economist Paul Krugman blogged that “Aaron Carroll of Indiana University tells us that in 2010, residents of the 10 states Gallup ranks as ‘most conservative’ received 21.2 percent of their income in government transfers, while the number for the most liberal states was only 17.1 percent.”

Romney’s comments only seemed to give the left more reason to summon up statistics like these to “prove” who the real moochers are.

But as solid as the statistics Krugman provided might seem, we’re left with one glaring problem: States aren’t people. Could it be possible that liberals within conservative states are the ones taking the welfare dollars?

A survey by the Maxwell Poll on the political affiliation of those receiving government aid showed this to be the case.

Okay, but that means 19% don’t. Too often the GOP makes the mistake of thinking that anyone on government assistance is a lost cause, ala Romney. They aren’t.

People want jobs, and if the GOP wants to win, they need to come up with a serious plan to help restore American industry.

Putting up candidates with no more than a regurgitation of Obama’s vague hope and change message is not going to win.

Not until they pass a law that people, who live on the public dole, will not be allowed to vote can this situation be corrected.

America will vote democrat from now on and it will hit the iceberg soon.

Get ready to go to the lifeboats.

Be careful what you wish for. If they continue their policies, we'll all be unemployed and on the government dole. And then without the right to vote, we'd have no means of redress.

The problem is, 40 percent of the 81 percent vote twice!

Another neglected strategy is pointing out the well-established inefficiency and incompetence of those institutions established to deliver these services.

I think some Republican politicians are staggeringly unfamiliar with how dealing with these bureaucrats makes waiting in line at the Postal Service seem like Club Med.

Take Gary, Hammond, East Chicago, and Center Township Indianapolis out of Indiana’s statistics, then recalculate those percentages.

Do the same for every other state, and you’ll get quite a different picture.

OH WAIT...
Is that rassiss???

Lots of people around here make the same mistake about union members. Before I retired, I was a union member for 30 plus years and I have never voted for a democrat in my life, furthermore, I've known plenty of union members who were conservative and voted that way.

I suspected the blue residents of red states were the ones responsible for making red states look like the biggest gov. dependents. Any state with a large population of black and Hispanic residents probably receives a lot of fed money going to those ethnicities. Maybe the states that have Appalachia running through them have the largest populations of whites receiving gov. aid.

I didn't need.a poll to tell me this. It's common sense. Conservatism isn't a political party, it's a set of principals.

In your case i can attest to the fact that older generations of union workers were not voting in one lib block. while never in a union myself i had many older relatives in them and all conservative, many vets. That’s shifted a whole bunch over the years. The key to the union vote is to simply change, as has been happening, rules so that workers don’t pay into one automatically. Its got to be free choice. Certainly (and some fight me on this here)there was a need for unions 80-100 years ago. There are plenty of rules protecting workers today. Their time has passed except as a fund raising arm of the dem party.

Thank the Federal Reserve. Debt monetization and state-control if interest rates together are the foundation of the Progressive state

Immigration reform will fix this, the low information voters will be encouraged to become completely dependent because the tax base of these illegal workers will give them enough to support the lazy as##es who dont want to

“Maybe the states that have Appalachia running through them have the largest populations of whites receiving gov. aid.”

In the past few decades, whites have started the same nonsense as urban minorities (breeding “golden ticket” bastards for money, supplementing that with disability fraud, etc.). Welfare reform in the 90s was to deal with the rising population (outside of the welfare reservations) that had begun playing the game. I don’t know which states have more “takers” anymore (as that population has been dispersed), but high-cost states (east & west coasts, upper midwest) contribute a lot to the tax till due to the inflated salaries.
