Federal judge strikes down Va. ban on gay marriage
The Washington Post ^ | February 13, 2014 | Robert Barnes

A federal judge in Norfolk struck down as unconstitutional Virginia’s ban on same-sex marriage Thursday night, saying the country has “arrived upon another moment in history when We the People becomes more inclusive, and our freedom more perfect.”

U.S. District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen issued a sweeping 41-page opinion that mentioned at length Virginia’s past in denying interracial marriage and quoted Abraham Lincoln. She struck the constitutional amendment Virginia voters approved in 2006 that both bans same-sex marriage and forbids recognition of such unions performed elsewhere.

She stayed her decision pending appeal to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in Richmond, meaning same-sex marriages will be not be immediately available in the commonwealth.

Virginia Attorney General Mark R. Herring (D), who had switched the state’s legal position on the issue and joined two gay couples in asking that the ban be struck down, has said the state will continue to enforce the prohibitions until the legal process is completed.

Wright Allen showed no hesitation in overturning the state constitutional amendment, saying none of the reasons proponents offer for denying same-sex marriages make legitimate governmental interests...

"U.S. District Judge Arenda L. Wright Allen"

Don't focus on the judge.

Read down thru the article and you come to the following statement: "Their cause was joined by last fall by lawyers Theodore Olson and David Boies".

Ultimately, all these cases in all the states will reach the Supreme Court and the case will be argued before SCOTUS by Olson(R) and Boies(D)

Next will be sexual acts between “humans” and animals and legalized sexual acts by adults and children. We are not quite at Sodom yet, but you can see it from here. If the Democrat Party has it way, it should take less than three years.

"Sister Wives is already here."

Those are Mormons. I was talking about Muslims although the plural wives decision would apply to both. A pro Mormon decision could be the wedge to legal Islamic marriages so Obama could hail a new conquest for his terrorist brethren.

States should continue to enforce there laws and resist the fed govt. Of course in Virginia the leftist are in the AG spot temporarily. But other states should refuse. The feds dont have the ability to fight 35 states. We give the feds power by consenting. If we dont consent, we over throw their rule. Real simple. Should have been done long ago

As the great Hudson from Aliens stated:

"That's it man, game over man, game over!"

I'm losing track of all the state laws and amendments getting overturned by Federal Courts. ON TOP POLYGAMY!

Another hellbound, demon-possessed judge that God will eternally and mercilessly torture for all eternity.

Elsie,

Lot is a lousy example of morality. He offered his two virgin daughters to the crowd, to do with as they would, if they’d just leave him alone.

NOT a moral man, IMHO.

So, states have NO rights?

I've read several liberal post EXACTLY this on different forums of late. Apparently, we must do EVERYTHING the federal government tells us to do, now. We are now the Unified STATE of America.

Is Kentucky planning to appeal the judge’s edict?

I agree with this tactic. Defy, refuse, resist compliance with tyranny.

That said, here is the ugly reality: money trumps principles.

The states are slaves to federal money like welfare leeches are slaves to EBT cards. They will bow down and capitulate to federal demands if the money spigot is threatened to be turned off for non-compliance.

This is true of men with principle as well. Threaten them with litigation and the expensive costs to defend oneself from the Federal Beast - most will take a plea or capitulate.

Refusing to consent will automatically result in an imposition of tyranny by force. How many people do you know are willing to suffer, have their lives destroyed, their wealth confiscated or even die by refusing to comply with these tyrants in government?

Exactly. Very few.

Not that I can find. Today two homos are suing the state of KY to force the state to perform homosexual marriage after the ruling.

It's Genesis 19, the homos are surrounding us and demanding to force themselves on us via the courts and the federal government.

It will get much worse from here.

You are not exaggerating.

People need to understand that THIS IS NOT ABOUT MARRIAGE, but about inroads toward power over Christians and the Judeo/Christian worldview which has defined America from her founding.

Be sure that they WILL outlaw churches and all Christianity when they gain the power to do so.

Ultimately that is what this is all about.

We know the actual power behind these movements allied with the Left and the MarxoFascists.

Why Christians in America are rolling over and taking it - baffles me.

Agree with what you say, but it has to start somewhere. It needs to start with those in gov’t who have the power to resist to start the process.

Would like to see those in govt come together to figure out the next step. Fed judges are not the solution in this govt. The country needs a real fundamental change and it might as well start now.
