I think I am safe in saying, when the Internal Revenue Service was first created in 1862 as the Commissioner of Internal Revenue, Abraham Lincoln did not foresee it becoming the monstrosity it is in today's America. From collecting the nation's first income tax to help pay for the Civil War, the IRS has grown into a government agency that intrudes into every facet of our lives. We can not work and make a dollar on the side, without the IRS trying to get its grubby little fingers on our money. We are unable to barter for goods and services without the IRS counting that as income and wanting more than their fair share. Is there no end to this madness?
We are facing a time when the IRS is being used for political gain. Conservatives are up in arms about the unfair targeting of conservative groups by the IRS. We want it to stop. At the same time, some Democrats are urging the IRS to strengthen its examination of tax-exempt groups, no matter what their political persuasion. In other words, they want to be able to control what these groups say by controlling their tax-exempt status. The obvious question for me is why do we even have such groups in the first place? As obvious as that question is, the answer is even more so. The government wants to be able to control these groups and they are using the coveted status of "tax-exempt" to obtain their goals.
The same applies to churches. For a church to be considered tax-exempt, it must make sure it follows the politically correct and prescribed rules of what their pastors say and the activities they engage in. Let them even get close to the line draw by the IRS and they are threatened with an audit of their tax-exempt status. That's why our church does not claim itself to be tax-exempt. There is much less interference by the IRS that way.
Look at what the Obama administration is doing now, in regards to ObamaCare. The IRS is being strengthened to be the main enforcement agency for the Affordable Care Act. The rules and regulations are being written and placed on the Federal Register. The IRS can now ask even more questions, prying even more private information out of the everyday American citizen. And if you think that's bad enough, just wait until you see what they are doing to businesses.
Since the inception and eventual roll out of ObamaCare, many of us have been trying to point out just how much of a job killer the legislation is going to be. Since last October, that fear has turned out to be more than a little founded in the gospel truth of how the law was written and how businesses have responded. Many companies have reduced the size of their workforce, for the express purpose of dodging the regulations of ObamaCare, as well as the fines and penalties that come with them. The Obama administration is now requiring businesses to swear, under penalty of perjury, that the stated reasons for reducing their workforce has nothing to do with ObamaCare. No, I am not kidding.
Fox News - Administration officials dispute that this is happening on any large scale. Further, Treasury officials said Monday that businesses will be told to "certify" that they are not shedding full-time workers simply to avoid the mandate. Officials said employers will be told to sign a "self-attestation" on their tax forms affirming this, under penalty of perjury.I just know I am not the only one who is concerned about the direction this will take our relationship with the IRS. Ace of Spades openly questions by what authority is this taking place. I would like to know that myself. It seems the Obama administration is following its usual course and just doing what it wants to do. The Republican leadership seems to be unwilling to ask these questions themselves, so that leaves it up to us. How much more abuse of power do we have to endure from the IRS before we say enough is enough?
I believe we are on a dangerous path in America. The average American citizen has become disengaged from the political process. Many of them simply do not care what goes on in our government, as long as they are provided for. I say many of them because I do not count myself as one of them. I may not be above average, but I care about what is happening to America, and the power that has been handed to the IRS is close to the root of the problem. The fact that so many Americans are disengaged from the process may be even closer to a problem that only we can fix. The power of the IRS has to be reined in and until we the people decide we have had enough, that will not be accomplished.
They will decide who will live and who will die
(but not for Moslems
or the EXEMPT and their families and Staff).
This is PURE and direct THEFT.
This rule does not apply to Black Churches. They are free to engage in political activity and they do. Of course, they are reliably Democrat, aren't they?
Amen. ALL churches need to pull the plug on tax exemption (aka governmental control of their freedom of religion).

Mention a candidate up for re-election within 60 days of an election. That includes every single member of the House of Representatives – you won’t be able petition your own representatives.
Register voters.
Call for the election or defeat of a political candidate.
Hold candidate forums so voters can decide who would best represent them.
