De Blasio defends keeping schools open after storm, but even pals disagree

Ten inches of snow. School buses colliding with cars. Half empty schools.

“It’s absolutely a beautiful day out there,” beamed New York Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña.

The clueless chancellor added insult to inclement weather with that head-scratching remark at a news conference Thursday. She and Mayor de Blasio were defending the decision to keep schools open as a snowstorm bombarded the five boroughs.

They tried to fend off criticism that came from everyone from elected officials to students to weatherman Al Roker.

“Unlike some cities, we don’t shut down in the face of adversity,” said de Blasio, noting that New York City schools have been shuttered only 11 times since 1978. “I’m going to make decisions based on the information we have.”

Within minutes of wrapping up the press event, Fariña bailed out of the city’s storm center at the Office of Emergency Management. A short time later, Fariña’s office announced that her town hall meeting in Brownsville, Brooklyn, was canceled “due to inclement weather.”

The Daily News spotted her leaving her office Thursday evening, climbing into her taxpayer-funded red Ford Escape SUV after her full-time driver waited about an hour for her.

Fariña, whose husband resides full-time in sunny Florida, had nothing to say outside of Tweed on Chambers St.

That’s a doubledown on self-righteous stupidity.

I think he’s going for a trifecta on idiocy.

Watch for the next set of insufferable foot stomping indignation regarding his questionable judgment.

I imagine there was a ton of slow moving traffic in NYC yesterday caused by all those accidents. Good news for the squeegee men!! They didn’t have to dive at as many moving cars.

I understand your point, but it impacts us all, because if De Blasio succeeds, it will embolden the far left to go even further with their evil agenda, nationwide. The good news, as far as I can see, is that this guy is shooting himself in the foot, on a weekly basis. The NYC media (excluding the NY Crimes, of course) are really spotlighting his foul ups, and he has the real potential to crash and burn :) Thank you.

WHAT DID HE KNOW AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT? Blabio's moronic excuse---that the snow came down faster than expected sounds like the lamebrain excuse that recently stranded hundreds of drivers for hours down south.

In his televised response to the avalanche of criticism, Blabio repeated over and over that he, too, was a public school parent. Somebody better check to see if he actually sent his kids to school in a blinding snowstorm (while willfully endangering other people's children).

Facebook carried pics of school buses maneuvering through traffic accidents----roof collapses from snow accumulation......and little kids on their way to school, struggling to brave the elements.

==============================================

BLABIO THREW N/W/S UNDER THE BUS If Christie has to answer for the GWB traffic cone thingy----Blabio should have to answer for his statement that the National Weather Service "told him" to expect 3-4" snow as the reason he did not close schools. NOTE Local NYC weathermen posted the N/W/S told them 10-12" was expected-----facts reported non-stop on TV.

============================================

THE BLEEDING HEART PROGRESSIVE MIND AT WORK------keeping schools open shows Blabio's animosity for well-to-do parents........and those who use schools as baby-sitters.

=======================================

MOMENT TO REMEMBER Lack of snow removal destroyed Mayor Lindsay's political career----he ended up bankrupt, begging for money to pay his bills.

NOT YET READY FOR PRIMETIME NYC Schools Chancellor Carmen Fariña's sap-happy remark at a news conference was supposed to allay criticism WRT the Mayor's stupid to keep schools open. The clueless Farina's response to the blinding snowstorm: “It’s absolutely a beautiful day out there,” she beamed...flashing a sap-happy smile to the cameras.

Within minutes of wrapping up the Mayor's presser, Fariña bailed out of the bldg. A short time later, Fariña’s office announced that her town hall meeting in Brownsville, Brooklyn, was canceled “due to inclement weather.”

CONCLUSION: D-U-H-VERSITY-OBSESSED BLABIO PROMOTED FARINA TO CHANCELLOR B/C HE LIKED THE WAY SHE CLEANED SCHOOL TOILETS

Somehow I knew this was going to be in there somewhere, after she shot her mouth off about how beautiful the weather was.

Yeah, I’d like to hear the answer to that one as well.
