Dylan Leonard Brown is all of 30, with a master’s in psychology and an expansive résumé that includes three years working as an estate manager for a former ambassador and overseeing a household staff of 12, along with three properties, one yacht, numerous automobiles and a multimillion dollar annual budget. Mr. Brown also planned around 100 events every year, including a three-day colloquium on human trafficking and an orchestral concert. (The ambassador was an amateur composer, so Mr. Brown hired an orchestra and choir, auditioned soloists and hired street canvassers to hand out fliers at the Gay Pride Parade in Boston to drum up interest.)

Back to the Future. Unless you are one of the privileged 10%-20% this type of work is probably the best one will hope for; serving the elite.

Shades of Downton Abbey.

Trouble is, the rich folks in that seriesback then had class and education.

One can only imagine the revulsion felt by those who have to work with the Obamadork.

Misleading header.

They are not domestics but well paid managers.

Bottom line, the chasm between the haves and have-nots is far wider under socialism than it is under capitalism.

And we haven't had capitalism for a long, long time. It's been replaced by big-government/big-corporate crony-fascism.

Which is exactly what a butler, a housekeeper, a valet or a lady’s maid were on large estates. Changing the names of the positions doesn’t change the job descriptions.

Those jobs that disappeared in the 20th century are making a comeback in the 21st with the new ruling elite.

Only the new Jeeves will have an MA and a five figure college debt in a service and peasant economy.

Indeed. I have an elite lady I do work for...specifically I care for her dogs and home as a “Professional Pet Sitter.” The niche I work is the very, very high-end clients.

Recently she cleaned out her pantry and left me ‘several’ grocery bags of food items. As she said ...she could have donated them, but then she didn’t think the receivers would know what to do with some of it nor appreciate it.

Linen closets as well were recently revamped. I now have several beautiful bath sets, sheets, and quilted down comforter sets.

While some folks may have been ‘insulted’ by her overtures... I accept the items with gratitude in my heart and on my face. These items are not things I can afford for myself at the present time, but ‘gaining’ them as hand-me-down gifts still lightens my load for now.

Why am I telling this on FR? Because when she started doing this it reminded me of the ‘favored’ domestic of long ago...and how they knew how to be grateful.

Make no mistake with being a domestic. It is not about the MA or having a college degree. It is about honesty and diligent work, something many of these young people do not understand. Boutique level service is just beneath them.
