The man who some call the future face of the Republican Party had a rocky political debut.
In his first speech as a candidate, George P. Bush stumbled over his words and appeared nervous during a luncheon of about 200 people Friday afternoon. Nonetheless, he was met with enthusiastic applause.
Bush, who comes from well-established political lineage, delivered the keynote address at the Texas Legislative Conference his first speech since announcing he was running for Texas Land Commissioner.
The 36-year-old nephew of former President George W. Bush didn't take big risks in his political debut. Bush, whose mother is Mexican, urged Texas lawmakers to continue prioritizing education and pledged to take a special interest in the welfare of veterans.
