California senator unveils bill to give health care to undocumented immigrants
Sacramento Bee ^ | Feb. 14, 2014 | Laurel Rosenhall

A plan to provide undocumented immigrants in California access to subsidized health care has been spelled out in Senate Bill 1005 by Sen. Ricardo Lara, a Democrat from Bell Gardens.

Undocumented immigrants are excluded from the federal Affordable Care Act that is offering legal residents the ability to purchase health insurance through government-run marketplaces.

Lara’s bill would create two avenues for Californians who are in the country illegally to seek health care. The state would expand Medi-Cal to include undocumented immigrants whose incomes are under 138 percent of the poverty level – about $32,000 a year for a family of four. And for undocumented immigrants who make more than that, the state would create a marketplace to sell insurance products.

Or in other words aiding and abetting people (criminals) violating federal law. Sen. Lara should be arrested.

You don’t understand. This will free the immigrants from “job lock” and allow them the freedom to pursue other interests. /sarc

It sounds like Sen. Lara wants to turn all of California into Bell Gardens.

Actually, I think this is a great thing...for Californians. The sooner they destroy their state, the faster the rest of America is likely to see the foolishness of socialism. I sympathize with conservative Californians of course, but states should have the right to self destruct if they wish. Just don’t ask the rest of us to pick up the tab.

My bill, were I a legislator there, would be to fund immediate identification, incarceration, and transport to repatriate all these people back to Mexico, as well as to build an impenetrable wall to keep them out.

Most Illegal Immigrant Families Collect Welfare

Census Bureau data reveals that most U.S. families headed by illegal immigrants use taxpayer-funded welfare programs on behalf of their American-born anchor babies. Even before the recession, immigrant households with children used welfare programs at consistently higher rates than natives, according to the extensive census data collected and analyzed by a nonpartisan Washington D.C. group dedicated to researching legal and illegal immigration in the U.S...The majority of households across the country benefitting from publicly-funded welfare programs are headed by immigrants, both legal and illegal. States where immigrant households with children have the highest welfare use rates are Arizona (62%), Texas, California and New York with 61% each and Pennsylvania (59%).

The study focused on eight major welfare programs that cost the government $517 billion the year they were examined. They include Supplemental Security Income (SSI) for the disabled, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), a nutritional program known as Women, Infants and Children (WIC), food stamps, free/reduced school lunch, public housing and health insurance for the poor (Medicaid).

Food assistance and Medicaid are the programs most commonly used by illegal immigrants, mainly on behalf of their American-born children who get automatic citizenship. On the other hand, legal immigrant households take advantage of every available welfare program, according to the study, which attributes it to low education level and resulting low income.

The highest rate of welfare recipients come from the Dominican Republic (82 %), Mexico and Guatemala (75%) and Ecuador (70%), according to the report, which says welfare use tends to be high for both new arrivals and established residents.

Sen. Ricardo Lara - another “wise latino”?

The fox is in the chicken coop.

When a black, a latino or any other minority in government places their racial or ethnic identity above their identity as Americans, and above their oath of office to protect and defend the US Constitution, they should be driven out of public office and imprisoned as traitors.

The same holds true for those in office whose first loyalty is to a political party, a political ideology (like communism), a labor union or any other organization or “ism” in violation of their oath of office.

“Ah...but that will be a given....that we “pick up the tab””

You’re probably right, but it’s up to us to try and elect people in our states who would resist it. That’s on us. California’s choice to pursue financial ruin via socialism and virtually unlimited illegal immigration? That’s on them.

I still maintain the sooner the insanity in California reaches its inevitable conclusion, the better chance the rest of us have of not repeating their mistakes.

"You lie!"

Joe Wilson has been proven right and he has been vindicated by Obama's own words and conduct.

The entire world has now seen Obama for the lying scoundrel that hs is.

Obama, The Lying King, is such a hard core liar that he lies even when he doesn't need to.

Did he raise his clenched fist and cry out “viva la raza”?
It’s so funny this idea I had that our elected officials were sworn to serve the people who elected them, Americans, and uphold the Constitution.
