I don’t know what you elected him to do, but so far I can’t think of a single thing or piece of legislation that he has accomplished other than to shut the Government down for a few days. Maybe that’s an accomplishment in your eyes, but it only helped the Democrat propoganda machine.Let me know when he chalkes up his first “accomplishment” as a legislator.

He's already exposed Cornyn for the liberal republican he is with this last vote. Cornyn took a hit here in Texas, and is that much closer to being replaced with a conservative.

That's what I elected him to do. Disrupt the GOP establishment, and make life uncomfortable for them, and open them up to being primaried.

As I said, get used to him. He'll be there for a while if he keeps it up.

I see you’re one of the fools that believes 18% of government employees taking a paid vacation equals a government shutdown.

OMG Cruz didn’t shut down the government. Just damn.

The choice was weather the dems would give ANYTHING or if they’d allow the gov’t to shut down. They chose to not negotiate and shut it down. How anyone besides a myopic liberal could think otherwise makes me think you’re one of them.

And I don’t think legislation is the only accomplishment to measure one’s worth - else I’d have to recognize McCain, Cornyn, Graham, Shumer et al as “accomplished”. Not my definition and I can’t believe it’s a FReeper’s.

just damn!

“I don’t know what you elected him to do, but so far I can’t think of a single thing or piece of legislation that he has accomplished other than to shut the Government down for a few days.”

Senator Cruz is doing EXACTLY what we in Texas busted our humps getting him into the Senate to do.

In addition, I see that you have swallowed the bravo sierra that Obama wanted you to swallow. The FACT that last fall’s “government shutdown” was designed and implemented by Obama and Harry Reid is totally lost on you. They out-flanked you and you never saw it.

Did you spend your career in the mess hall?

What “type” of bills would you have him pass?

The democrats own obamacare thanks to Ted Cruz.

Is that how we judge senators? We are legislated to death now. What would you have him legislate further? I just want them to tend to defense and leave everything else alone. It won't happen, but I will never fault anyone for not pushing through more legislation.

Thanks 2ndDivisionVet, for this post and the conversation it has triggered regarding Senator Cruz, especially for providing a detailed bio for him.

As veterans, both you and Old Retired Army Guy follow a long line of military service people since General George Washington who have helped to protect our nation from outside military forces. Thank you for that!

With that said, however, when we read the early history of America, we cannot help but conclude that before General Washington's courage and military skill won the battles of the Revolutionary War, there was the courageous John Adams who, along with others, led the philosophical fight for independence.

Then, there was a young 33-year-old Thomas Jefferson, who may have lacked the oratorical skills of Adams, or the military leadership skills of Washington, but used his great intellect, his devotion the idea of Creator-endowed life, rights, liberty and laws to protect them, to become the chosen Author of our Declaration of Independence--a document which truly changed the world and formed the philosophical foundation for our Constitution's structuring of a limited government for a free people!

We honor all our military, but we must remember that what they are defending is a set of ideas--not just land or property--a set of ideas once well understood among citizens, but now under attack by a movement called "progressive."

America's citizens now are engaged in a "battle of ideas," and that battle, just as the one in 1776, requires what one might describe as thought soldiers on behalf of individual liberty. That might be an apt description of men like the Adamses of the 1770's, of Thomas Jefferson, of Thomas Paine, and the hundreds of others whose abilities to think, to write, and to use their oratory to inspire their fellow citizens!

Perhaps we might just allow such men the freedom to make their voices heard, to use the means of communication and media to call us to the battle before us, without seeing them as publicity hounds.

Let us measure their efforts by how closely their calls adhere to the ideas of our nation's Declaration of Independence and Constitution, not by their style; for if the ideas of liberty and our Constitution are allowed to be erased by the so-called "progressive" regressive ideas which now dominate our propaganda and policies, then our wonderful military may have nothing left to protect.

"These principles form the bright constellation which has gone before us and guided our steps through an age of revolution and reformation. The wisdom of our sages and the blood of our heroes have been devoted to their attainment. They should be the creed of our political faith, the text of civic instruction, the touchstone by which to try the services of those we trust; and should we wander from them in moments of error or of alarm, let us hasten to retrace our steps and to regain the road which alone leads to peace, liberty, and safety."

More power to Senator Cruz and any others who will dare to be bold and articulate when it comes to helping Americans rediscover the ideas by which America became the greatest beacon for liberty in the history of nations.

Wow.

I was never a fan of the moth threads that the boss set up some years ago. I thought those were a mistake and still do. But posts like this make me understand WHY there were moth threads.

“shut down the government”>>>>>>

That is something the democrats say to try and blame something on Republicans that didn't happen. Now why don't you bring up the “Republican war on women”. That hasn't happened either.

Decision time: Hunker down with the Obsolete RINOs, or CHARGE the Left flanks of “both” Political Parties with Senators Cruz and Lee!

____________________________________________

Ponder this:

As Americans, WE are used to patiently, and silently waiting for solutions to problems to come from the top down.

This lazy attitude has been the basis for most Military, Corporate and Political Management structures in America for most of OUR History.

WE now have the ultimate in lazy, top-down, political structure: a rouge dictator whom WE allow to be above OUR Constitutional Law.

WE will continue to have the current Obama Dictatorship as long as the Chief Impeachment Official, ( CIO ), the Speaker of the House, is allowed by US to permit Obama to continue as a OUR Dictator.

In all of Obama’s public statements, he has told the truth to US only twice:
1.) “We are only five days away from fundamentally changing the United States of America.”

and

2.) “I have a pen and a telephone, and I will use them to issue Executive Orders whenever Congress fails to act.”

Obama has thus defined himself to be OUR Dictator, and formally gave US fair warning of his intentions to do so.

For reasons that border on High Treason to the United States of America, Boehner as Speaker of the House, has failed his Constitutional Duty to begin Impeachment Proceedings on B. Hussein Obama.

The Members of the US House of Representatives have refused to force Boehner to resign; then to elect a Speaker with the required Sense of Honor to do his/her Constitutional Duty to begin Formal Impeachment Proceedings on B. Hussein Obama.

If WE, the taxpayers, do not force the Members of the US House of Representatives to replace Boehner as Speaker with a new Speaker that will issue the necessary Articles of Impeachment on B. Hussein Obama, then WE, the lazy, silent majority taxpayers, deserve to continue to have OUR Liberties crushed by Dictator Obama.

The future of OUR Republic is, as always, in OUR hands.

DONT TREAD ON ME
