Gay rights in Africa suffered another setback when President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda told members of his party on Friday that he would sign a bill imposing harsh sentences for homosexual acts, including life imprisonment in some cases.

The measure would criminalize “the promotion or recognition” of homosexual relations. After a first conviction, offenders face a 14-year prison sentence. Subsequent convictions of “aggravated homosexuality” could bring a penalty of life in prison.

According to Amnesty International, homosexuality is illegal in 38 of 54 African countries.

So where are the homosexual activists and Obama on this one?

They were all upset when Russia brought a law that forbids propagandizing homosexuality to minors, but did not say anything about consensual adult relationships.

Uganda has a large Christian population who believe the Bible. I remember when America did, too.

They are by and large Christian. That will be the tie-breaker. Our Government (and Media) will come down on them like a ton of bricks.
Had they been Muslim there would be whistling and/or the sound of crickets...

Scary that Obama will give the Ugandan homosexuals special amnesty and they’ll come over here.

Not so bad by African standard. I think they want to keep this way.

I wonder what the breakdown is, i.e., how many of the 38 are Islamic despotates? Funny that Amnesty Int'l doesn't have a webpage about Islamofascist oppression. Thanks Innovative.

Problem solved. If they’re Christian, then being black is irrelevant. Their anti-homosexual stance will not be tolerated.

“The United States government cannot stand idly by as a witness to history as the Ugandan government prepares to strip lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Ugandans of their human and legal rights,” Ruth W. Messinger, president of the American Jewish World Service.

Yes, We Can! Boo hoo, idiot.

It doesn’t surprise me. A little over a year ago, President Museveni led the country in a prayer for repentance. There’s one African despot with his head screwed on right.
