Ted Cruz's Ego Trip Carries a High Cost (obvious dem talking point has been issued)
The Washington Post ^ | February 14th | Dana Milbank

Posted on 02/16/2014 3:06:09 PM PST by Reddy

Very few Americans know how close the country came to catastrophe this week.

The final tally shows that the Senate voted by a wide margin Wednesday, 67 to 31, to break Sen. Ted Cruz’s filibuster of an increase in the debt limit, thus avoiding a default on the United States’ full faith and credit.

But 15 minutes after the voting should have ended, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell had apparently secured only two of the five Republican votes he needed to join all 55 members of the Democratic caucus to pass the measure. He raised three fingers in the air and worked his way among his members but was met with folded arms and shakes of the head. Looking queasy, he patted his thigh nervously and drummed his fingers. In the hubbub, Sen. John Hoeven (R-N.D.) knocked a full glass of water and coaster from McConnell’s desk to the floor.

Democrats, watching the spectacle, took the extraordinary step of ordering the Senate clerk not to read aloud the ongoing vote tally to avoid setting off a market panic; because the House had already left on a two-week recess, a failure of this vote would have left little chance of avoiding default on Feb. 27, when the Treasury was to run out of funds.

Watching the chaos from the side of the chamber was the man who caused it: Cruz, his hands in his pants pockets and a satisfied grin on his face. The Texas Republican strolled to the clerk’s table to check on the vote count and was met with a look of disgust from Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.). And the feeling was widespread: Moments after Cruz walked into the Republican cloakroom, four senators emerged and changed their votes to “aye.”...

Cruz’s ego trip had come at a high cost.

FRiends, I've been seeing this all over the internet... the administration and their fellow rats have issued their talking points. Cruz (and Paul) are rogue EGOtists that are only doing what they are doing for their own fame and glory. They are giving no thought to what is best for the country, only trying to make names for themselves and obtain power. That meme is also being promoted at the DUmp. Head up, Patriots!

I’ve seen the word “ego” used relentlessly against Cruz.

Repeat a lie often enough...

It's called "leadership," a word that is not in the ruling-class elite GOPe's vocabulary.

Yeah, Dana Milbank is so worried about the GOP and the damage Ted Cruz is doing. It wouldn’t surprise me if the GOPe is behind these attacks.

More RAT projection.

The simple fact of the matter is that Barak Hussein Obama’s EGO TRIP carries a terrible cost. Lives of our military, millions of Americans out of work, the economy is a shambles and our National Security is at risk like never before.

The question is simple. Can WE allow Obama and his Marixist Regime to continue, unabated or have we had enough of this junior grade Tyrant?

Exactly! What Cruz is exhibiting is courageous leadership, it’s so frustrating that the low info voters are only getting misinformation from MSM/DEM talking points.

The attacks don't matter. Cruz is in the Senate for 6 years, and he's likely to be re-elected. He will be disrupting liberal republicans for quite a while.

The “catastrophe” has already happened, Milbank. It is named Obama. Why don’t you write about that?

One man with courage, Cruz, is trying to do something about the catastrophe and you worry about ego. Fool.

Yep. This is now the talking points from all DC Elites.

Thank you Ted Cruz for once again exposing the RINO’s.
It was amazing to see and read what one brave conservative could do.

1) Cause the senate to change the voting rules, so that the voting was not transparent, done like a thief in the night.

2) Had the RINO’s in shear panic for 45 minutes trying to decide who the
sucker would be that cast that 60th vote.

3) Caused the RINO’s to lie about what they really voted for.

Amazing what one brave conservative did.

His actions suggest Cruz has put himself before his party and even the nation’s solvency.

No Milbank, he's put himself before party members who've become little more than democrats.

That’s exactly what’s happening.... but the sycophants including Milbank will never admit that BO is a dangerous tyrannical narcissist.

The only cost was further exposing who Cruz wants the voters to get rid of, and replace with solid conservatives. We’re happy to oblige.

Dumb ass. The Treasury is already out of funds. We are over 17 TRILLION dollars in debt and and have been living on borrowed money for a very long time. Money we can never payback. Money that everyone in the world knows we can never pay back. Soon America will be done. We will be owned and run by others.

Anyone who takes a stand against deficit spending and/or debt is a target for smears and dehumanization by the nedia.
They’ve been pushing the ‘Cruz just a selfish egomaniac’ meme since October.

The media’s fiscal books cry out for that government supplied consumer spending.
