The No.2 Republican in the Senate is polling below the 50 percent threshold in the partys March 4 primary that he needs to clear in order to avoid a May 10 runoff, according to a Feb. 10-12 Human Events/Gravis poll of 729 registered Republicans.
Sen. John Cornyn (R.-Texas), the GOP Whip in the upper chamber has the approval 49 percent of those questioned and 43 percent preferred him to main challenger Rep. Stephen E. Stockman (R.-Texas), who polled 28 percent, said Doug Kaplan, the president of Gravis Marketing, the Florida-based firm that conducted the poll with both live callers to cell phones and automated calls to landlines. The poll has a margin of error of 3.6 percent.
Twenty-nine percent of respondents were unsure, he said.
These are dangerous numbers for Cornyn, because they show that despite his power in the Senate and his familiarity with the voters, he has not yet made the sale, he said.
Kaplan said Stockmans numbers are better than in the Oct. 26 poll Human Events/Gravis poll of Texas GOP registered voters. In that poll, Stockman polled 15 percent head-to-head with Cornyn.
In the previous poll, Cornyn lost to a generic Tea Party candidate 46 percent to 33 percent with 46 percent approving of the senators job performance, he said. In the same poll, Sen. R. Edward Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was approved of by 73 percent.

If Cornyn is kept under 50%, there will be a May 27th runoff. McConnell's primary is a week earlier. We can remove both Cornyn and McConnell within one week of eachother.
Then we can move on to Graham and Cochran in June and Alexander and Roberts in August.
But momentum begins on March 4!
So Texans, march forth to the polls on March 4th!!

And the winner of my vote is?
Up to you.
Read their positions.
We will see.
Do your job Texas conservatives.
Keep Cornyn under 50%.
OUST THEM ALL!
Our vote will be for Stovall because Cornyn will use Stockman’s “colorful” statements against him in Cornyn’s campaign ads. Stockman will be portrayed as a clown who would embarrass Texas. After all, that is how the Leftist media paints Ted Cruz, one of the most brilliant senators ever elected from any state, so imagine what they will do to Stockman.
Anyone but CoRINO
Except for Cornyn's!
.
Cornyn has been running a lot of ads lately touting the fact that he is a gun owner and love guns. Also, he claims to be confronting Obama everyday (except for when he is being reasonable, voting for cloture that is).
I’m not in TX, but I seem to recall reading something on FR a while back in which Sen Cruz said he wasn’t going to weigh in/support anyone in the primary.
To my knowledge, Cruz has not ‘officially’ endorsed anyone but forcing the cloture vote last week was not an aid to the RINO’s re-election...
This is true, and this is why I stated "seen" in my post. I'm hoping he will come out and take it back because this is so important.
Good point!
