Stovall hoping citizen statesman appeal will help him win Senate seat

Just weeks before the March 4 Republican Primary, Dwayne Stovall is spending his days just as he has the last several months — driving across the state and appearing before large and small groups of Texans, hoping to gain their votes in his race for U.S. Senate.

If he is fatigued, he’s not showing it. In fact, Stovall appears to be energized by his grassroots campaign that boasts 1,100 volunteers, and counting.

Stovall, a resident of Tarkington in Liberty County, is vying for the U.S. Senate seat of veteran politician John Cornyn.

Though he may be considered a long shot by some, Stovall appears to be gaining ground. In recent weeks, he has won his ninth straw poll, has been endorsed by dozens of Tea Party groups and has been recognized by national media, though in some cases the mention is unflattering.

“Greta Van Susteren [of Fox News] called me a jerk on Friday for making a reference to [Minority Leader] Mitch McConnell as a Beltway Turtle,” said Stovall, referring to a video ad that posted side-by-side photos of McConnell and a Looney Tunes character, Cecil Turtle.

In the 30-second ad, Stovall says, “As a senator from Texas, you vote for Texas. You don’t stab her in the back by voting for cloture on Obamacare. You don’t enslave its children with unconstitutional laws and overwhelming debt and you certainly don’t do this to please some guy that looks and fights like a turtle.”

His dog Major is then shown saying, with a voice-over, “I like turtle soup.”

Stovall says he is amazed by the reaction the advertisement has received.

A suggestion:

Why don’t you provide cross links of some of your Stovall threads. That will help
readers find other articles and info. Just a suggestion. Take care.

I don’t know how to do that. I post all my articles under “elections” so they’re easy to find and freepers can get a feel for what’s going on across the country.

I don’t know how to do that.

Add "Stovall" as a keyword to each piece.

Greta Van Susteren [of Fox News] called me a jerk on Friday

************
Greta has her stable of old reliable RINOs for her show (e.g., McCain, LG, etc.) that she likes to keep around. She’s afraid she’ll be losing them to the Tea Party and they won’t appear as the same old boring guests she normally trots out.

When I saw that ad, I knew that it would come back to bite him in the butt. I loathe Mitch McConnell and John Cornhole, but that ad was childish and distasteful.

Everyone I know says Cornyn needs to go, but Stockman and Stovall aren’t doing themselves any favors.

We played this game yesterday. We get it - Stovall’s your horse in this race but there’s really no need to re-post a day-old article. As you note, your posts are going under “elections” so they can be found by those wanting info on Stovall or Cornyn or Greta’s latest “jerk” pronouncement.

I don’t have a horse in the race, other than somebody other than Cornyn. I post articles daily and some articles don’t pop up in my searches until after a day or two.

I’m going to keep pounding until all the votes are counted on March 5th...then keep pounding till November!

Who are you going for in the TX GOP Senate Primary T-Bird? I’m going for Linda Vega; a Hispanic female who is opposed to amnesty. Reasor is also a great candidate. So is Cope.
