The White House has begun quietly looking at military options for intervention in Syria, especially those which will not require Congressional approval.
Efforts to broker a diplomatic settlement between Assad and moderate rebels show no promise right now. Russia and China have blocked any effort by the United Nations Security Council to tighten the pressure on the regime in Damascus.
But senior intelligence officials late last month opened a new path for Obama to increase U.S. involvement in a way that wouldnt require congressional authorization, could minimize a public backlash, and might give Syrias moderates some breathing room.
How? By telling Congress that Syria increasingly serves as a base, not just a battleground, for extremist groups looking to someday attack the United States.
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper compared areas of Syria held by groups the United States considers terrorists to remote areas of Pakistan that are thought to harbor Al-Qaeda. Those groups have aspirations for attacks on the United States, he told the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Likening Syria to Yemen raises the possibility that America could widen its much-criticized strategy of targeting extremists with drone strikes.
Well, I hope he leads the charge. Tip of the Spear and all that.
NO NO NO!
Again?
Why? Is there a new hot scandal/crisis affecting him again?
Nothing to see here, his lips are moving.
McCain is bouncing off the walls in excitement.
I guess he feels like he’s retired all the right military leadership - those who might’ve been inclined to question the Constitutionality of an executive’s orders.
Prayer for Peace in Syria
God of Compassion,
Hear the cries of the people of Syria,
Bring healing to those suffering from the violence,
Bring comfort to those mourning the dead,
Strengthen Syria’s neighbors in their care and welcome for refugees,
Convert the hearts of those who have taken up arms,
And protect those committed to peace.
God of Hope,
Inspire leaders to choose peace over violence and to seek reconciliation with enemies,
Inspire the Church around the world with compassion for the people of Syria,
And give us hope for a future of peace built on justice for all.
We ask this through Jesus Christ,
Prince of Peace and Light of the World,
Amen.
Petition: For the people of Syria, that God may strengthen the resolve of leaders to end the fighting and choose a future of peace.
Saudi Arabia pulling the puppet strings.
Look! Squirrel!
“Wag the dog” - but this time, it is unnecessary to create the unrest, there are already several right at hand.
But why not Venezuela? At least some of our troops already speak the local language (no need for crash courses in Arabic or Farsi), and it is much closer, thus keeping the logistics a lot simpler.

Assad’s army is mopping up. We have no business there.
Are the Constitutionalists demanding a Congressional formal declaration of war prior to military action? Where are you Cruz, Rubio and Paul?
WTF? Did POSOTUS, aka King Hussein, aka CEO Choom Gang draw another line in the sand?

Perhaps we can send a delegation of pawns to get slaughtered.
If I for one second believed he actually has the cojones to pull the trigger, I’d be scared.
Oh boy, here comes another “red line” just beyond the other ones. He’s really getting tough now.
He hasn’t managed to get all the Christians killed yet, but his second term is still young.
