And while all of this is going on, Congress largely sits as a potted plant. In the Senate, Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have complained long and loud, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid will not permit legislation to address presidential lawlessness to reach the Senate floor. A few dozen Republicans in the House have complained, but Speaker John Boehner will not permit the House to address corrective legislation. Institutionally and officially, Congress is sleeping.
Can you imagine how a Democratic Congress would have reacted if Ronald Reagan had instructed the IRS to cease collecting capital gains taxes so as to spur economic activity; or how a Republican Congress would have reacted if Bill Clinton had instructed the IRS to add a 1-percent rate increase to the tax bills of billionaires so as to close a budget gap?
These are dangerous times because this is a lawless presidency and a pliant Congress. The president's willingness to violate the Constitution publicly calls into question his fitness for office. And that deafening silence from Capitol Hill manifests a spineless refusal to preserve constitutional government.

You can combine all the lies, infractions and downright illegal activities of every Republican President from the beginning to now, and none of it equals the wholesale, unrestrained and pathological, power-mad avarice of THIS ‘President’!
Unfortunately I believe it is less than craven, spineless refusal to do one's duty, but rather complicity by the vast majority of the Congress-critters (from both parties). The Republicans may say something else to their constituents back home - to get re-elected - but they are all for the increasing the size of the bloated Government. It gains them more power and wealth.
At least I could hope for the spineless to grow a new spine, but liars who are full on-board the tax-funded gravy train will never change. They will just lie some more.
It’s a coup and no one has the balls in the leadership to tell it like it is..
>>Its a coup and no one has the balls in the leadership to tell it like it is..
It’s a coup and most of Congress is in on it. The coup is against US. They are letting us vote and vent and shake our fists...and then they are doing exactly what they need to do to push the Progressive agenda forward.
They will take our freedom, then curtail our energy usage, ration our food through inflation, and then reduce our lifespans. They can run the parts of the economy that benefits them with foreign manufacturing, foreign labor, and only a few of us. The rest are just tokens to be controlled, moved, and discarded in a grand power game.
The Senate I can understand as it is repressed by the RATs. But the House? WAKE UP!!! Johnnie Boy.
Well said.
It’s one thing to have a socialist ideologue act this way (that is, outside the limitations clearly laid out in the Constitution), but the complicity of those members of Congress who loudly proclaim their commitment to Constitutional principles is quite another ... and it’s dishonorable all around.
What disturbs me is the growing totalitarianism in the Obama administration. Obama rules increasingly by decree, the IRS is rooting out political dissent, the NSA is spying on all Americans, the FCC seeks to control even the local media and the effort to disarm America by one means or another continues. Add to this federal agencies even the Postal Service arming themselves to the teeth and military units training to quell domestic insurrections. It is almost like Obama is planning a coup that will make him dictator. Sadly the GOP does little more than whimper in the corner and most Americans remain clueless. I fear that Obama could well end free elections as early as this November. What we are seeing unfold in Ukraine could well be in the cities and streets of the US in the not so distant future.
This move would keep them closer to the people they represent and farther from lobbyists and other corrupting influences. The DC party circuit, gone. The arm twisting would revert from thugs like Harry Reid to the citizens who elected them.
Which has more influence on a politician, a million e-mails or a thousand angry constituents outside the door with pitchforks and torches?
Make them WORK for their money, make them live with their electorate. By all that is Holy, we had no intention of electing 535 little despots to rule over us from Washington.
When Washington was built, it was near the center of the Country, now it is thousands of miles from reality. Now it is the center of the Liberal East Coast liberals. It has no relevance to the rest of us.
BRING THE GOVERNMENT HOME WHERE IT BELONGS.
Support Republican South Carolina Representative Trey Gowdy during the coming House Member Rebellion Election to be the new Speaker of the House by April 15, 2014.
BUMP! Excellent idea. Imagine that linked with term limits? An unbeatable combination.
YES! See my new tag. Y’all saw it here first :)
and the GOPe wants us to vote for their candidates??
My {naive} hope is that the RINO leadership is waiting to win the Senate in 2014 before they act. But, alas, they told us they were waiting for the debt ceiling debate to demand concessions, and we know how far that went.
We as a country are so in need of prayer and leadersip!!!
At this point we could skip impeachment and just invoke the 25th ammendment. Unfit for duty.
I’m sure we don’t have “standing. “ After all, we’re just the unwashed masses! /sarc
Well actually Congress needs to invoke the 25th ammendment right after we recapture the Senate. But I’m not holding my breath.
