Cruz Meeting With Hollywood Conservatives on IRS Scrutiny

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz plans to meet with Friends of Abe — the IRS-targeted group of elite Hollywood conservatives — to address the "McCarthyite" scrutiny it is under as it seeks tax-free charity status.

"FOA should respond to the IRS as it would to any McCarthyite request for information," Cruz, a Texas Republican, told The Hollywood Reporter, referring to the IRS's demand for its membership roster.

"The U.S. Supreme Court has already ruled that Americans have freedom of association, and that groups should not be forced to reveal the names of members because that information could be abused for political gain."

Friends of Abe was founded by actor Gary Sinise in 2004 and consists of nearly 2,000 right-leaning Hollywood movers and shakers, including Pat Boone, Kelsey Grammer and Jon Voight.

Cruz, who will meet with Friends of Abe next month, told the Reporter the group was targeted as part of a government effort to intimidate those critical of President Barack Obama.

He also cited the arrests of Dinesh D'Souza, who made the documentary "2016: Obama's America," and was charged with violating campaign finance laws; and Nakoula Nakoula, whose "Innocence of Muslims" video was initially blamed for the Benghazi attack that left Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead.

"It's a remarkably selective prosecution considering Obama raised millions of dollars under similar circumstances, and donors merely faced civil fines, while D'Souza is charged with felony violation of federal law. There is a pattern of targeting filmmakers who speak out politically," Cruz told the Reporter.

"Authorities have been remarkably selective in prosecuting D'Souza; the IRS's treatment of FOA is consistent with what this administration has done to Tea Party

Isn’t it interesting that Cruz seems to be out there with the people almost every day he isn’t in the senate. While we never hear about Harry Reid or Mithc mcConnel being anywhere except the senate or fundraising event for themselves?

Gary Sinise has gone overseas to play for troops with his Lt. Dan Band.

What are you talking about?

“McCarthyite”, I don’t think so. McCarthy was a good guy. Stalinite is way more accurate. Let’s not let the Left define the terms here.

I am surprised and disappointed that Sentor Cruz used the term "McCarthyite". The fact that Cruz is well-read and grounded in conservative philosophy, as was Reagan, permits him to speak extemporaneously and, in the words of another Freeper, always put his foot down right. The fact that McCarthy was right has been established since the Venona Project was declassified in 1995.

Agree. I'm glad that Sen Cruz is meeting with this group, regardless.

Sorry, but Clint, at Best, is a Big "L" libertarian.

He's not a social conservative, and barely a Pro-Military conservative.

Oh, he likes to protect his money and wants to be left alone, but on pretty much everything else, he lines up with the Democrats.

Come on.

Senator Cruz is using the propaganda and the language of the Left against them.

Maybe Anne Coulter can get her idiot boyfriend Bill Maher to back Cruz in his support of FOA?

No, Anne has jumped off the deep-end again with her recent faux pas of following the folly of Monsieur Sowell.

” - - - - She continued, “The only way to repeal Obamacare is to elect Republicans. It is not to be fighting Republicans.”

“Pretty Dyed Hair” Coulter has obviously been to busy writing puff books about her obsolete RINOs to notice that RINOs are no longer capable of becoming Warriors for the US Constitution or even someday becoming “fighting Republicans.”

Yes indeed! The dreaded Wussification of America has even extended into the Hallowed Halls of the House!

Her thought process has dumbed down to the one-dimensional thinking that RINO Rove and other faux “advisers” are fond of using.

For example, “Pretty Dyed Hair” Coulter uses the one-dimensional phrase “the only way to” to solve a problem. Ah, if things in the District of Corruption were really that simple!

“PDH” Coulter has made assumptions that can be easily tested when she remarked: “The only way to repeal Obamacare is to elect Republicans. “

Her assumptions are as follows:
* 1..) That a Republican elected by us will vote like a Republican;
* 2.)There is no difference of voting philosophy among elected Republicans;
*3.) Elected Republicans can be trusted by the voters who put them there to repeal Obamacare;
* 4.)The phrase “repeal Obamacare” has a single meaning to her Republicans.

In “Letterman” Order:

Number 4:
* “Repeal” to us means ABOLISH Obamacare FOREVER, and pass a Constitutional Amendment to dissolve the NINE SUPREMES if they EVER rewrite Federal Law on anything from their shiny bench seats!!!!!!
(BTW, I also have an emotional opinion on Obamacare.)

* “Repeal “ to Speaker Boehner means to Repeal the very few parts of Obamacare that can somewhat easily be replaced with RINOCare “fixes”, if, and this a big “if” “his best friends across the aisle”will agree to consider to someday think about cutting the rate of increase in some programs of Federal Spending sometime when there is not so much going on in Congress.

Number 3:
* No explanation needed.

Number 2
* No Explanation needed.

And the Number one reason that PDH Coulter has made false assumptions about her support of her Republicans is (drumroll please):
* As of this writing, there is no known evidence that any of the current US House Members have ever voted as Republicans.

RINO PDH Coulter has thus just earned the coveted, and much deserved, “Obsolete RINO Award of the Day!”

Earlier this week, RINO Intellectual Thomas Sowell has convincing won the “Obsolete RINO Award of the Week” for his writing on the inability of obsolete Professional RINO Politicians to shift into Cruz Control.

Were they "voting as Republicans" when every single one of them voted AGAINST nobamacare?

The RATs own nobamacare, pure and simple.
