Club for Growth hits Cochran in two new ads

Club for Growth Action launched two new attack ads on Thursday, hitting Sen. Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) on the debt and tax increases.

The ads, one on radio and one on TV, point to Cochran’s votes to raise the debt limit, among others, to charge he’s not conservative enough. Cochran is facing a challenge from state Sen. Chris McDaniel and is considered one of the nation’s most vulnerable incumbents to a primary challenge. McDaniel has been endorsed by the Club, Senate Conservatives Fund and other conservative outside groups.

The Club's new ads reference a recent report that revealed at least 10 buildings in Mississippi built with federal money bear his name.

"In Mississippi, Thad Cochran’s name is on lots of buildings. In Washington, Cochran’s name is on bailouts, tax hikes and debt … lots of debt,” a narrator says in the TV ad.

The narrator adds: “After 42 years in Washington, it’s time for a conservative change.”

In the radio ad, a narrator charges Cochran’s opposition to ObamaCare wasn’t enough.

“Sure, he voted against ObamaCare, just like every Republican. But Cochran then voted for budgets that funded ObamaCare and kept it going,” the narrator says.

And the Club for Growth has been working to take advantage of that vulnerability. The group touted McDaniel as a "constitutional conservative with a backbone" in a TV ad out last year, and just this week turned comments Cochran made admitting that the Tea Party is "something I don't really know a lot about" into a Web ad.

“”In Mississippi, Thad Cochran’s name is on lots of buildings...”

So he’s the GOPe equivalent of Robert (Sheets) Byrd (GRHS), the gone but not forgotten KKK Wizard Senator from WVA. In WVA, he’s got more stuff named after him than MLK.

Cochran has done squat to minimize the erosion of the American Rights contained in the US Constitution.

He has had decades to fix this but has not.

He needs to spend more time with his family in Ol' Miss.
