People who hold to some antiquated notion of 2nd Amendment rights and freedoms and refuse to register their legally purchased high capacity magazines in CT are now felons.
In practice, though, the choice of candidates we so often have, it's hardly ever worth the time it takes to place your ballot.
That said, I don't think the biggest threats to our democracy are convicted felons.

My concern is that the prison time served is not commensurate with the crime committed. There are too many people getting out of jail/prison before full payment on their crime. This especially applies to politicians and their ilk. At the same time there are too many innocent persons in prison and too much personal discretion by overbearing judges. Our ‘justice’ system has been eroded and corroded by to many superfluous laws and judges. Throw in the bunch of government at all levels enforcers.

I must have missed the section of the constitution that enshrines voting as a right for criminals. Perhaps its next to the parts of the Constitution guaranteeing "a woman's right to choose" and gay marriage.
The idea that voting is an automatic "right" rather than a privilege is wrong at a fundamental level.

Gun rights for state felons is fairly uncomplicated per state
Most southern state restore at some point to state statute felons
For federal felons....much more complicated and penalties draconian

Cruz, Lee, and Rand co-sponsored a bill (or agenda) regarding prison reform.
What’s the point of paying one’s dues if not to have rights restored???
And let’s not forget, we’re talking about man’s law, not God’s law.
I say full rights after incarceration.
