It’s the same case in Belgium. Half the nation is economically surging ahead....the other half is mostly agriculture and draining resources/tax revenue from the other half. Everyone in Belgium knows this, and half the country wants a division. So far....it hasn’t happen. To be honest Donetsk economy is about as large as of the Western Ukraine combined. It might be a rust belt, but it is draining the rest of the Eastern states in the first place, not the West.
Every Western province with the exception of Lviv is in much worse shape, if you are to look into a tax revenue / spending ratio.
Over 80% of tax revenue in Ukraine collected in the East and South, and about 70% of national budget goes to the West in welfare and development programs.
We’re heading towards 65 states in the union, and maybe 400 nations in the UN..
