Here in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv, the most important thing coming out of a congress of pro-Yanukovych politicians is the sentiment that they don't want Ukraine to split but to remain united.

Kharkiv's regional governor, Mikhaylo Dobkin, told the meeting of MPs from predominantly Russian-speaking areas of eastern Ukraine and Crimea : "We're not preparing to break up the country. We want to preserve it."

“If I could ban you sad Putinista types from my threads, i’d do it in a heartbeat. Don’t come around me spreading your pravda/RT/RN drivel.”

So if one knows the evil of the EU and its plan to destroy a country, then that person worships Putin.

Brilliant.

Why would you need an education when you can look at what the EU is all about (and the US too) everyday via the internet?

We no longer have to rely on slanted print coverage like we used to; we can see what’s happening all over the world if we find the right sites/sources.

For the Ukrainians, sure Russia is a poison that works quicker, but the EU is just as deadly. It just takes longer via its own theft and unleashing multicultural/diversity worship.

“So if one knows the evil of the EU and its plan to destroy a country, then that person worships Putin.”

Vladimir Putin is an evil man in charge of a corrupt post-soviet oligarchy who has openly articulated his plan to subjugate the young, independent democracies of the former soviet union. He has already ripped Georgia apart. It’s really just a matter of time before he does the same in Moldova. He’d like to bring Ukraine into his orbit and keep them poor and compliant just like Belarus, with his Putinista buddies in charge living like kings. But he’d settle for splitting the country and protecting the pro-Russian elements from their “evil”, “fascist/nazi” opponents.

No one who gives two craps about human liberty would argue that Ukraine is better off under Putin’s thumb than it would be with open trade with all of its neighbors. People forget that the issue that began this mess was a trade deal between ukraine and the EU that Russia was opposed to because it felt that its own businesses would have to compete in Ukraine with cheaper, better quality, European and North American goods, which inevitably leak back into Russia, tariff free(Russia and Ukraine have a (mostly) tariff free border). Their main problem wasn’t Ukraine reorienting towards the west, it was the possibility of losing Ukraine as a captive market and the possibility of their oligarch capital owners having to compete directly with free market goods. They ordered Yanukovych to stop the deal, publicly embarrassing him in the process and sparked yet another revolution, Putin’s second major overreach in the same country(The first was when they poisoned yushchenko and tried to help yanukovych rig the 2004 election.)

Ukraine is better off opening itself up to trade with its bordering states like slovakia, hungary, poland, etc, than spending the next half century as a poor buffer state between Russia and the west.

Ukraine and Belarus economically are Mexico and Canada respectively in relative terms.
