Stalin also knew that self-sufficient peasants had to be eliminated.

Our totalitarian overlords have learned from the best.

“This is my badge. These are the fines. This is what is hanging over your head, and we want you to know that,” (Jim) Crawford says the (federal) official told him. …
Sounds like a stereotypical Soviet Commissar. Going after the perceived Kulaks already, eh?

Of course, Caroline Smith DeWaal, from the Center for Science in the Public Interest in (where else) Washington DC, comes up with this bit of central planning:
“Necessity is the mother of invention,” Smith DeWaal said. “Why not create a cooperative whose sole job it is to truck this stuff to a composting facility and truck it back? It’s an expense, but way better than the unexpected expense of a major recall and implications to your farm if an outbreak is traced to your product. There are costs either way.” …
Yeah; keep regulating things that are not the cause of food poisoning. Ivory tower left-wing politics strike again.

You hippie organic farmers best lock and load. Be ready to drive out the federal fascist bureuacracy that you love and voted for. Or perish, suckers.

The imminent 2nd civil war could be more interesting than I thought. Organic farmers with RPGs and surplus German MG 42s. Ach-tung! Farm Bureau fascists. Die! Die!

Be careful what you ask for, you might get it. The ‘organic’ crowd begged for regulation just as the ‘natural’ school did a generation before. Once a phrase or idea or practice becomes government property so do the adherents.

“and irrigating from open creeks.”
Although I am from Texas, I lived in West Virginia for a while.

It will be very interesting when a Fed goes into the hills and mountains of West Virginia and tells them boys, “they can not use their own creek.” Just because you can walk into those hills does not mean you will walk out or ever come out.

ps

This is not criticism of those boys that live in the hills. They are good people but they are hard people. They will do you no harm if you do not harm them.

Isn’t this similar to what Stalin did to the Ukraine?
Stalin took their crops and sold them for his own benefit and left them nothing to eat.
The FDA will just stop farmers from growing anything but Frankenfood.
The result is the same. The prices for organic will skyrocket and people will starve.

To avoid potential health problems, anyone using manure from cattle for fertilizer should plow it in during the fall before planting in the spring. There are resources around the Net from studies and farmers on the topic. Cow manure is great fertilizer if old enough and used properly.

“Humanure?” It takes a couple of years in the soil for that to be safe, unless it’s properly composted for the required duration at the required minimum temperature or frozen for days at lower than -20 Fahrenheit (roundworms—toughest hazardous organism in human manure). There are also resources on the Net for that. Personally, I’ll leave using that stuff to Asians and California hippies. ;-)

Laws against nature almost always fail. Even with the use of “the frog in the pot” ObamaCare style implementation.
