Unions to Spend $300 Million to Unseat Scott Walker, Other Governors
Wisconsin Election Watch ^ | 2-13-14 | Kyle Maichle

HOUSTON, TX – The nation’s leading labor union will plan to spend $300 million in 2014 trying to unseat Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker and four other Republican Governors.

More: AFL-CIO to Target Walker, Other Governors

People’s World reported that the AFL-CIO announced on Thursday morning during a press conference in Houston that they would spend money trying to unseat Governor Walker. Other Governors that the labor organization is targeting are John Kasich (R-Ohio), Tom Corbett (R-Pennsylvania), Rick Snyder (R-Michigan), and Rick Scott (R-Florida).

The American Federation of Teachers backed the AFL-CIO’s plan. President Randi Weingarten said: “In many ways it is difficult to get anything done in Washington. In states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida a war is being waged against the people and their standard of living. The states are where the people live and we want to focus on where the people are.”

AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said that the main issue of the campaign is relating to raising worker’s wages. This was reflected in a poll conducted February 8th to the 11th by Hart Research in the States of Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Three out of five voters surveyed in the poll said that they are dissatisfied with the direction of the economy. Guy Molyneux of Hart Research confirmed to Wisconsin Election Watch that a poll was conducted in the State of Wisconsin during the period of February 8th to the 11th.

Extra: Learn More About Governor Scott Walker

On Friday morning, the campaign of Governor Scott Walker issued a fundraising e-mail asking for donations linking the People’s World Article. In the e-mail, Campaign Manager Stephan Thompson said: “While Governor Walker has been focused on moving Wisconsin forward and turning a $3.6 billion deficit into nearly a $1 billion surplus, the big-government unions have been focused on taking the state back to the days where they reigned supreme – the days where taxes and unemployment were skyrocketing.”

According to the last Marquette University Law School Poll conducted on January 27th, Walker had a 51 percent approval rating.

Why don’t they use that 300 million to help poor union workers?

I go with money-shampooed theory, absolutely. Laundry, even possibly foreign— seeing these figures, likely Soros connected.

Typically, Republicans will bark about this, for our sake and for the cameras, but have no real bite. Senate Repubs are killin’ us and the Boehner crowd only manufacture wrenches for accountability investigations. (Thinking here of his Benghazi brush off, used only for a sound bite or two.)

"Why don’t they use that 300 million to help poor union workers?"

$300 million could pay for a $10,000 insurance premium for 30,000 workers. The governors should point that out in their response ads.

Idiots. Walker turned his state around to spur growth and prosperity.

Republicans are the adults in the house. Wisconsin how has the fund to pay for social programs thanks to Walker. I say, run him for president.

“Walker has been focused on moving Wisconsin forward and turning a $3.6 billion deficit into nearly a $1 billion surplus”

death throes. its all in now because the private sector union is going the way of the dinosaur. I think its important to consider as well that your points are things the members may realize but for the leadership its only about their own jobs.
Their own instincts to protect their own jobs are whats hastening their own demise.

Might be time to go on a high pressure campaign against the left addressing that 300 million?

Where did it come from?
What is it being used for?
Who authorized that use?
Why isn’t it being spent on education instead of buying politicians?

We can have a field day with this.

How about seeing how much their pension plan is underfunded (ERISA) and arresting Trumka on a RICO charge

And we constantly read articles circulated by the left that the Koch brothers are worse than terrorists because they contribute campaign funds to help Republicans get elected. In response, the low information voters nod their head approvingly and go about their business confident that the Democrats will protect their entitlements from the evil Republicans.

In states like Pennsylvania, Michigan and Florida a war is being waged against the people and their standard of living.

Living in Florida I can tell you Obamacare is far more destructive to our standard of living far than anything Gov Scott could ever do...

I look forward to the day Trumka does the perp walk...(I know I'm dreaming)

Walker took a $30 million barrage and the Unionistas have pretty much nothing to show for it. There’s not a lot of people left to move. Walker’s opponent WILL NOT commit to repealing ACT 10, and there are Dems signing on for Walker’s tax cuts. I don’t see the unions putting a ridiculous amount of resources at Walker, maybe in the local races.
