Chisinau knows perfectly well Transnistria has opted to join the Russian-led Customs Union. The Slavs east of the Dnieper do not want to be in Europe. EU membership will pull Moldova apart. Which would suit Moscow just fine.
But who will Transistria join with? Ukraine? Unless there's a Tiananmen Square-type crackdown, Russia has lost its bid to control Ukraine. It wouldn't surprise me if at some point the bulk of Moldova is swallowed up by Romania and the Trans by Ukraine; economically that would be better for the Moldovan people, though it might bother them politically.

Moldova is adjacent to the Carpathian mountains, Transylvania, and Latveria, and while officially a repugnant democracy, is effectively ruled by princess Hereford-Schweinstein Von Homburg Deutschendorf, the descendent of Vigo Von Homburg Deutschendorf, king of Carpathia and Moldova, and countess Bathory-Frankenstein of Wallachia. Her consort is the Latverian Prince Kristoff Vernard.
Their voters want a union with Russia. The Russians, Ukrainians and Bulgarians do not want to live in Moldova.
