La. disqualifies food stamp recipients for overspending (Wal-Mart Looting Update)
The (Baton Rouge, LA) Advocate ^ | February 24, 2014 | Staff

Posted on 02/24/2014 10:07:03 AM PST by abb

Louisiana’s social services department says it stripped food stamps from six people who deliberately overspent their monthly benefits when the electronic service was down in October.

The Department of Children and Family Services said Monday it also is working to disqualify another 25 food stamp recipients.

Several Louisiana retailers allowed food stamp recipients to make unlimited purchases on Oct. 12, when the electronic card system was down and balances couldn’t be checked.

DCFS says some took advantage of the computer snafu and spent more than their available benefits. The department says it is pursuing 500 people who misspent $315,000.

No taxpayer dollars paid for the improper food stamp purchases because DCFS says it didn’t cover the costs of retailers, who didn’t follow the process for when the electronic system crashes.

Walmart can swallow $315,000 easily. And it sounds like it was their fault anyway.

Well, without a doubt the Department of Children and Family Services is racist.

That was cheaper than having the store burned down and the employees killed by the EBT zombies!

Yep. If you’re white you can’t get them unless you vote for 0 and take the Communist oath.

HUH? You are ridiculous. What was Walmart to do? Deny any benefits and then take a beating in the liberal media?

“Several Louisiana retailers allowed food stamp recipients to make unlimited purchases on Oct. 12, when the electronic card system was down and balances couldn’t be checked.”

That was a pretty stupid solution. Why didn’t they tell people they could spend up to $50 or $100? That’s enough to tide anyone over for a day or two.

I agree with Kansas
Walmart was in a no win situation
but just because they can afford it doesn’t make it right
I think the SNAP people, whether state or fed should deduct the amount the welfare thieves overspeant until it is paid bak

on another angle. do we really think these welfare thieves won’t be reinstated?

Walmart chickened out in this, as all the shopkeepers I see do (Texas). Enablers.

Daily, I see infractions of culture and justice in the stores, no kidding.

Pushy foreign language speakers, managers drooling and tripping over themselves.

It is a disgusting display of cowardice and total dependence on the military for fighting for our culture and liberty.

It is disgusting.

Walmart had better eat this.

So if someone is rich and is stolen from then oh well, they had enough money anyway. Just, wow.

According to the article, Walmart had procedures given them by the state that they didn’t follow.

If you are expecting reimbursement from the state for something like food stamps, they you ought to follow the state’s procedures.

If this is the case then Walmart should be “pursueing” them. It was they who allowed it to happen. Let them sue. Of course, they’ll never do that since at least a third of their business comes from ebt cards.

“And it sounds like it was their fault anyway.”

Walmart had some fault due to the tech glitch but there’s no excuse for these leeches to pirate and steal from the system. The good news is that these clowns obama money will be taken from them. Hope these pukes starve..
