AS EXPECTED, I got a lot of reaction from last Tuesday's column about the black Florida teen who was shot to death by a white man for refusing to turn down his "thug music."
Most comments reflected America's enduring inability to acknowledge racial disparities.
"Why doesn't your paper ever write about white victims?" We do.
"Why are you trying to start a race riot?" I'm not.
MORE COVERAGE Aiming to help black men "What, are you trying to be Philly's Al Sharpton?" Low blow, people. You try taming this hair.
One of the most interesting calls I got was from a black former Philadelphia police officer who has a teenage son. While on the job, Richard Safford said he often came across young black men mouthing off to adults, pretending to be tougher than they are; he'd later see those same kids crying to their mothers about missing their fathers, he said.
"Why doesn't anyone write about the games that black young men play that bring about bad things happening?" Safford asked. "When I grew up, we were taught to respect adults. Kids today, being raised by single mothers, aren't taught that. They don't know how to deal with a challenge from male adults, white or black. And too often when it's a white adult dealing with black kids, it can go bad."
As the recent case of Jordan Davis tragically illustrated. Michael Dunn, who said Davis and friends called him a cracker and spewed threats when he told them to turn down their music, was convicted for almost killing the friends in the car with Davis that day. But a jury deadlocked on whether Dunn was justified in killing the 17-year-old Davis...

“But a jury deadlocked on whether Dunn was justified in killing the 17-year-old Davis...”
Somebody set me straight...my understanding is that the jury deadlocked on whether the killing was 1st or 2nd degree murder....not on whether or not it was justified?
It is RACIST to expect logic from Eric Holder's people.
Murder One is a VERY VERY DIFFICULT CHARGE to get a conviction on from a jury. Even under more advantageous circumstances.
He was guilty on several charges, but the jury deadlocked on the murder one charge. It appears to be a case where the prosecutor overcharged, and should have gone for 2nd degree murder.
Oh Boo effin’ Hoo! I don’t condone murder or violent assault period...but to compare a handful of white on black incidents to the thousands of black on white is ludicrous.
The comments are telling. This lady needs to buy a clue. 90 or 95% of murders are committed by black youts, IIRC. So we should not be apprehensive or defensive (no matter our race) when approached by black youts in hoodies?
Also remember, the majority of the victims of black crimes are black.
I have many black friends that I love and respect very much. They have raised their children to be good citizens. It is single moms that are the problem, and this goes across racial lines. It just started with blacks in the 60’s where the welfare state (war on poverty) began.
I think the two jurors who were interviewed said they (the jury) were having trouble deciding whether shooting the first teen was self defense, not whether it was 1st or 2nd degree murder.
On the other hand you have to look pretty hard to find anything on the web about Roderick Scott and Chris Cervini.
OK...I really didn’t pay enough attention to this case...
White Guy may only know Black Kid from the media, and you don’t often see Black Kid in the media (since “The Cosby Show” went off the air) doing anything but the perp walk...
...right...I never see blacks in the media...guess I must be hallucinating when I watch a typical college or pro football game...
Out of 14,528 murders, 3,925 were committed by blacks under 35.
27% is clearly out of proportion for the percentage of the US population represented by young blacks, but it's nowhere near 90-95%.
Give this column to Channon Christopher. Oh wait, you can’st. She’s dead because of this “myth”
It is not a simple comparison. The handful of W-on-Bs is given much more eight than the actual SOP status of B-onWs.

1. Female.
2. Liberal.
3. Racist.
Poor ickle girl presstitute appears unable to accept basic American societal core concepts. Just to reduce her learning curve, let me make one thing clear, even to a mere female, Liberal minority Presstitute.
No person has the right to attack anyone. “St. Martin of the Purple Drank” was rightfully shot when he insisted on slamming Zimmerman’s head against a concrete sidewalk. That properly shot black thug was doing what occurs all over America on a regular basis.
MS Presstitute lies when she states her paper writes about the daily occurrence of Black attacks on whites. Like most communism infected media/mediapersons, she still thinks she can lie and not be caught - but the Internet seems to have nailed her racist screed.
The amazing thing to me is that whites are tolerating such a wave of Black On White crime. Blacks are warring on white America. When the whites realize this and decide to stop it, things will get very ugly for a short while, until the issue is settled.
I suggest the settlement will not be good for the American Blacks. However, “Live by racism, Die by racism” - and they insist on starting a race war.
The above is, I suggest, proof that what the IQ tests have shown ever since the first one was given to blacks is correct.
Only the stupid start a race war when they are a small, less educated, poorly organized and easily identified minority - arguably, they should have stayed awake in Race Wars 101.
;-)
White on Black violent crime is newsworthy...
The reverse isn’t.
Helen Ubinis, the author of this article, says that both ‘gun owners’ Dunn and George Zimmerman acted irresponsibly when reacting to a ‘perceived thread.’
Everyone who believes that the threat to Zimmerman when he was having his head bashed into concrete was only ‘perceived’ raise his or her hand.
Anybody?
Bueller?
Bueller?
These are not really “Holder’s People” but rather “Johnson’s People.”
