I don’t get it. Why does the town care if she is hooked into their system or not?

(This is not a statement of fact. It is either opinion or satire; or both.)

So, she plugs into the grid and makes the city pay her for the electricity she doesn’t use. Right?
Seriously - this sucks.

"I don't have to justify my life. They have to. That's the way our system of justice works. They have justify it. I don't," Speronis said. Silly woman. She probably still believes she is innocent until proven guilty too. I wish her well, but I'm not optimistic when a petty bureaucrat with a trivial job goes after someone who has expressed their opinion on just how trivial their job is.

Government wants "sustainability" when it is impossible, and want it outlawed when it is possible.

Probably could have said that better - isn’t our utility supposed to pay you when your meter runs backwards because you are a net producer of power?

The real “crime” was that she was not paying into the municipal utility’s bank account. Thou shalt not deprive the gobberment of its revenue.

I’ll bet she’s one of those Dreamer peasants who thinks that she owns her paid-off property, and is not renting it from The State like the rest of us...

Where does the sewer go?
Water comes in, water goes out.

Control.
They give some BS about sanitation, but they actually don't care if you have a state of the art composting toilet that does a better waste management job than their outdated sewer system.
They want control.
