Statement of RPV Chairman Pat Mullins on Delegate-elect Rob Bloxom's Win

RPV Chairman Pat Mullins gave the following statement:

"Let me be among the first to congratulate Delegate-elect Rob Bloxom on his overwhelming win tonight in House District 100. Rob is going to make a great addition to Speaker Howell's growing caucus, and I look forward to working with him to advance our shared conservative values in the General Assembly."

"But tonight's win is about so much more than just who holds this House of Delegates seat. Just a few weeks ago, voters split nearly 50-50 in this same area. But after just a few weeks of watching Virginia Democrats try to implement their vision for our Commonwealth, voters spoke loud and clear, and sent a resounding message to Democrats: no more."

"Democrats made this race about the very priorities that Terry McAuliffe, Dick Saslaw and his fellow liberals have been pushing ever since they took over in Richmond. Their candidate ran on raising the minimum wage. He ran on expanding Medicaid. He ran on implementing President Obama's liberal agenda.

"Tonight's results are a rejection of expanding Obamacare through Medicaid. They are a rejection of increasing the minimum wage. They area resounding rejection of the Obama-Warner-McAuliffe-Saslaw agenda."

"Most importantly, though, tonight's results are a victory for common sense, conservative values, and for Commonwealth of Virginia. Congratulations, Delegate-elect Bloxom!"

Nice win but special elections are rarely indicative of more than who was the least apathetic.

First time the GOP won this seat since Bloxom’s father held it in 2001.

Good news, but as long as McAwful is in power, I’m calling Virginia lost. How long before he’s indicted for something, who knows.

I don't like him or his father.

Bloxom Sr. endorsed T-Mac for the gubernatorial race.

Neither Bloxom endorsed Wayne Coleman for the state senate race last month, which he lost by only 11 votes.

If they had endorsed Coleman, the GOP would have control of the state senate.

Wow, that's damning. Losing control of the Senate and endorsing McAuliffe is unforgivable.

If they had endorsed Coleman and he had won, there wouldn’t have been an open House seat for Junior to run for.

Thank God! We need any win we can get after losing in November 2013 practically every major seat in Virginia. I am happy that we won this seat and San Diego a few weeks ago.

You don’t really think last year’s election was clean, do you?
