My guess is they pump a ton of money into your economy, don't commit crimes and are generally nice folks. Why the hostility?

They vote Democrat.

We need more CO2, not less, in the atmosphere.

I just finished reading Super Freakonomics (fascinating book, BTW) and the writers pretty much shot to pieces the whole global warming threat.

It went something like this: When I was in school, we learned CO2 was plant food. Is it causing the planet to warm? Well, the planet is warming, this is not in dispute, and it has been warming for the past 12,000 years.

It also has periods where it cools. In fact, during the 1970s, Global COOLING was the great fear. The argument was that we were polluting the air so bad that heavy particles in the atmosphere were blocking the sun and causing temperatures to drop. The result were a myriad of clean air laws to combat this. So perhaps global warming today is nothing more than good environmental stewardship?

Today, CO2 in the air is around 350 ppm. 100 years ago, it was 250 ppm. 80 million years ago it was 1000 ppm (about the same as the inside of a typical office building). Hydroponic grow rooms use an atmosphere enriched with 1400 ppm of CO2.

We also know that CO2 is not a good greenhouse gas. The real culprit is methane. So we need to ban beef and all go on a vegetarian diet, right? Oops, turns out 98% of all methane is produced by decaying plant matter.

So if the globe is warming, is this even bad? That depends. If you are in the business of selling heating oil, global warming is very bad. If you are in the business of growing food, global warming isn't bad at all (and, as you said above, increased CO2 in the atmosphere is very, very good).

Nice?

They are some of the most rude, obnoxious and just plain ignorant people you would ever care to meet.

On top of that, the south also gets the “snowbird” winos, sorry lets go PC here, HOMELESS.

Thousands of bums from the north come south for the winter.

Luckily I now live where I don’t have to put up with them.

Really? All of them?
Just what do you do that you encounter all these horrible people - and the homeless too for that matter?

Like I said, where I live now I don’t have to put up with them.

When I lived in Corpus Christi the snowbird winos swarmed the city every year.

Rude, obnoxious, and ignorant?

People from the north would be driving on the beach and get stuck in the sand. OK anyone can get stuck in the sand, no problem.

You would think when someone tries to be nice and pull them out of the sand they could at least be nice back and say thank you.

Not people from the north. I don’t think they even know how to say thank you.

Somehow it was always everyone else’s fault but their own for getting stuck.

Non stop bitching.

After you pull them out they would drive right back into the soft sand and get stuck again. Again with the complaints and non stop bitching that it’s everyone’s fault they got stuck but their own.

Pull them out a second time, without so much as a thank you, and surprise! surprise! drive right back in and get stuck a third time.

This was not the exception, it was the norm for people from the north.

I also don’t like hearing people from the north, who somehow always believe they have to be the loudest person in the room, going on and on about how people from Texas, and the south in general, are ignorant, stupid, racist.

That’s what they think of Texas and the south they can keep their goat smelling butts up north as far as I care.

Wasn't aware you were talking about Texas ... I assumed you were in Florida.
Maybe you get a different class of snowbird there, but most of the oldies I've encountered in Florida always seemed okay.

Consider yourself lucky.

A friend of mine was selling real estate in Austin a couple of years ago.

He said he never understood what his dad and I were talking about when we said how obnoxious people from the north were.

After a couple months selling real estate he said the only people more obnoxious then the liberal Californians moving into Austin was the liberal New Yorkers moving in.

Heck, they try their best to deny the medieval warm period even existed despite ice core and other data stating unequivocally that yes it did indeed happen, and it was much warmer than today.

KI>Surely this ‘breaking news’ article on an obscure website will be picked-up by the major ‘news services’ and widely broadcast.

Heh, heh. No kidding.

That's why I've been saying scroo the Men Seeking Men Media for years.

They are not going to do our dirty work for us.

Not to hijack my own thread, but, as much as I enjoy listening to the big boys of Conservative talk radio, it's annoying when they get their panties all wadded up when the NYT or CNN or (insert name of major news service here) don't cover a story or doesn't cover it to their satisfaction.

It makes me wonder. Do the executives at Ford rant and rave when Government Motors won't fix a flaw in one of its vehicles?
