Rand Paul Is the GOP's Early Presidential Front-Runner
National Journal ^ | February 25, 2014 | Josh Kraushaar

While the establishment hopes for a governor to emerge, he is quietly putting together a formidable operation.
Republican strategists like to say the party's next nominee needs to hail from the GOP's gubernatorial ranks. It's a response to how unpopular Washington is—particularly the party's congressional wing—and a reflection of the party's strength in holding a majority of governorships. But another reason for the gubernatorial focus is to sidestep the one formidable candidate that gives the establishment heartburn: Sen. Rand Paul.

Well, I see they’re trying to promote an Amnesty advocate as the “alternative” to a Governor. They are SO predictable.

In their minds, ANYONE but Ted Cruz.

Wrong. It is Rick Santorum.

He won Iowa in 2012 while getting severely outspent. I suspect he wins again in 2016.

He was 3 in NH in 2012 to Romney and Huntsman. I suspect he gets 2nd this time.

With Gingrich out, I suspect he will win SC.

Then it will be a two man race in Florida.

But he clearly has an easier road than anybody else unless Romney reconsiders and runs again or if Jeb Bush runs who would probably win NH and FL.

The GOP will use Liberal/Progressive moderators to minimize anyone not a moderate like Romney, McCain or Bob Dole. Don’t expect any exciting GOP candidates ever again.

Romney truly embodies the GOP principles.

Gay Marriage by his Choice.
RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE by his Choice.
Criminal illegals everywhere
and not an American job in sight.
Lying, lying, lying, lying.

Romney should be the GOP candidate in 2016.

I think the National Journal may have this one right. Rand Paul might be the perfect flunkie for the RINO Party.

As of now, Republicans could do a lot worse than picking Paul. But why pick Paul? Walker, Perry and especially Cruz are so much better.

The GOP as currently constituted will never win another election - I see a possibility they even lose the House in Nov 2014. WHAT DOES THE GOP STAND FOR?

in plain English this means Rand Paul currently has the highest name recognition. Probably mostly because most stupid people think he is Ron Paul.

Yeah, whatever happened to Limited Government?

Their answer to Obamacare is to replace it with some other form of Socialistic government controlled healthcare. It's not to give us back our freedoms to do business with whomever we will (and to use insurance as we like).

Gee....I don’t know. What, exactly, does the GOP stand for?

Give Obama Power? Garden of Poop? Inquiring minds want to know....

My sense is rand paul is our best chance. There are lots of kids fhat want to vote “libertarian” , even though they do not even know what it means. I think he will get lots of votes from low info voters that cruz will never get. I personally would love to see cruz, but I think rand paul is the only guy that gets non republicans
