Rand Paul Is the GOP's Early Presidential Front-Runner
National Journal ^ | February 25, 2014 | Josh Kraushaar

Posted on 02/26/2014 8:10:04 AM PST by Cheerio

While the establishment hopes for a governor to emerge, he is quietly putting together a formidable operation.
Republican strategists like to say the party's next nominee needs to hail from the GOP's gubernatorial ranks. It's a response to how unpopular Washington is—particularly the party's congressional wing—and a reflection of the party's strength in holding a majority of governorships. But another reason for the gubernatorial focus is to sidestep the one formidable candidate that gives the establishment heartburn: Sen. Rand Paul.

Rand Paul is liberal lite - no real core values - hopelessly lost in libertarianism - so I expect the GOPe to get behind him if they can’t get what they really want - a Democrat.

I’m sorry but Santorum has no hope of being elected. He’s a nice guy but seems to me to have a horrible time articulating much of anything and was about as passionate as Mr. Rogers. Give me passion! An unashamedly conservative that doesn’t mind speaking the truth about the dangers facing our nation. I want a fire! Someone like Bill Whittle on steroids (loved his idea about the new GOP logo) - but I’ll settle for Ted Cruz.

Newt Gingrich "will" run again in 2016.

Book it.

I will happily vote for any right leaning American. This regime is really starting to scare me.

I think he and Ted Cruz would be an unbeatable ticket.

It's way too early for any talk of front runners.

Can we at lest get beyond the 2014 elections and let people declare their candidacy?

Romney is described in some circles as “right-leaning”. So is McCain. I wouldn’t vote for either of them if I was drowning in lava and it was the only way to be rescued.

“Rand Paul is liberal lite - no real core value”

Thats kind of a low blow. To admit that you would oppose parts of the 1964 Civil Rights Bill in this day and age takes some guts.

Whoa!

Per other recent threads,

Christie is ...

JBush is ...

Huckabee is ...

Romney is ...

Palin is ...

Cruz is ...

Walker is ...

==

Of course, 2012 had half-a-dozen periodic frontrunners and none of them managed to accomplish much more than seeing their bandwagons crash after a few weeks.

2016 seems to be shaping up to be a repeat, with plenty of 2008/2012 retreads, but hopefully, a few new faces.

Cruz in a heartbeat.

I missed Whittle's new GOP logo - do you have a link?

I like Rand Paul because he champions reining in the police state but he has not found his footing yet on other matters. Amnesty is not the answer and he needs to rethink that issue for starters.

Right now he and Ted Cruz are the best available. At the risk of getting flamed The only governor I would even consider is Rick Perry. But I think his time has passed.

Rand Paul, Rick Santorum, Scott Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush and Krispy Kreme. And I’m sure I’ve not listed all the possible candidates.

But things are shaping up once again as a perfect vote splitting storm of many, sort of conservative candidates and a couple of RINOS, a perfect scenario to deliver another RINO presidential candidate.

Yep, I forgot Rick Perry. So, possibly seven who’ll be called conservatives and two RINOs.

“Rand Paul is liberal lite - no real core values - hopelessly lost in libertarianism - so I expect the GOPe to get behind him if they can’t get what they really want - a Democrat.”

Yes.

And he has shown how he is moving in to GOP establishment camp.

That makes sense. He’s the son of a career politician. It’s the family business.

Rand also seems to have a screw or two loose, though not as many as his father, the apple doesn’t fall too far...

I prefer Cruz or Palin.

Still, I will vote for whomever is GOP nominee in 2016. I will not sit out or vote for a Dem or a third party candidate.

Any GOP nominee would be better than whoever runs for the Dems.

Anyone espousing a smaller, more Constitutional FedGov can be painted with the “libertarian” brush.

Get over it.

Very predictable.

They will do ANYTHING to get amnesty. They know it will destroy the GOP and this country.
