Kerry: Russia Must Be 'Very Careful' in Judgments on Ukraine

Secretary of State John Kerry warned Wednesday that Russia must be “very careful” in judgments it makes about Ukraine and that it must keep its commitment to respect the sovereignty of the nation.

“I think Russia needs to be very careful in the judgments that it makes going forward here,” he said in an exclusive interview with NBC's Andrea Mitchell. “We are not looking for confrontation. But we are making it clear that every country should respect the territorial integrity here, the sovereignty of Ukraine. Russia has said it would do that and we think it’s important that Russia keeps its word.”

Kerry said that Russian President Vladimir Putin should “listen carefully to Ukrainians who have voiced their desire for change,” repeating that the United States does not view its relationship with Russia as a “sort of continuation of the Cold War.”

“This is not Rocky IV,” he said. “Believe me. We don’t see it that way.”

Not sure where you live, but that’s NEVER been my experience with Ukies.

They worked their asses off, appreciated the opportunity to live the American Dream, and were better at being Americans than a whole lot of other folks I’ve seen who have been here for a lot longer. The Ukies that I grew up with were Patriotic Americans who served overseas, came home, and built lives for themselves.

Let’s see, Jon, how trying to threaten Russia to behave might work. What will you do when Vlad orders a dozen divisions, plus 1500 fighters and fighter-bombers for air cover and ground support to invade Ukraine and put down the rebellion that “threatens” Russia? Yeah, you, the guy whose boss is cutting back America’s military to pre-WW2 levels, who has shown that he backs down from EVERY confrontation and who has earned Vlad’s contempt by being as queer as a $3 bill. What are we going to do, sail the 6th Fleet up the Bosporus and land an expeditionary force somewhere on the shores of the Black Sea to fight Russians on what they believe is their soil? I'm of Ukrainian heritage. I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking to troll me, I can tell you I don't have a thin skin. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you retract what you have said about Ukrainians that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.
