Ill omen? Pope’s doves of peace for Ukraine attacked by angry birds (PHOTOS) Published time: January 26, 2014 19:23 Edited time: January 27, 2014 10:39 Get short URL Pope Francis (C) watches as children release doves during the Angelus prayer in Saint Peter's square at the Vatican January 26, 2014 (Reuters/Alessandro Bianchi)

Pope Francis on Sunday prayed for the start of a “constructive dialogue” in Ukraine, releasing two white doves to symbolize the hope for peace. However, the doves were immediately attacked by a crow and a seagull.

Addressing tens of thousands of people gathered in Vatican City’s St. Peter’s Square for the Pope’s weekly Angelus prayer, the pontiff said that his thoughts and prayers were with the victims of the Ukrainian unrest.

“I am close to Ukraine in prayer, in particular to those who have lost their lives in recent days and to their families,” Pope Francis said.

He then raised hopes for a “constructive dialogue between the institutions and civil society,” urging both sides to avoid violence and reminding that “the spirit of peace and a search for the common good” should be “in the hearts of all.”

In a symbolic peace gesture, two white doves were then released by children standing alongside Pope Francis.

But as soon as the birds took off, they were immediately attacked by a crow and a seagull.

The crowd gasped as one dove broke free from its seagull attacker, losing some feathers in the process. The other was less fortunate and was repeatedly pecked at by the crow before flying away.

It is not clear what happened to the doves after onlookers lost sight of them.

Social networks immediately exploded with comments and interpretations of the incident; some perceived it as an “ill omen” while others simply described the situation as ironic.

Hundreds of protesters and police officers have been injured in violent riots in Ukraine. Investigators have been searching for shooters who, in separate incidents this week, killed several rioters and one policeman with rounds suitable for a sporting gun.

Amazing photos. Apparently this had never before. When God sends a sign, we have to listen.

The beak of a seagull can crack sea shells open, the chances of a dove surving an attack of a seagull are slim.
This is a wonderful sign for peace and i believe for the Church, to survive a brutal attack, the meak dove prevails

The power of the Holy Spirit!

I would catagorize them as scavengers and not predators and until this incident had not heard of them attacking adult birds. Of course this happened in Italy so maybe they worked for the mob and doves owed them money. That's soo funny.

Regardless they attacked very meek and much smaller birds, who were able to escape seemingly unharmed. Crows can be very vicious, they either try to attack my moving car, or they have some kind of kamikaze bird games.

“meak dove prevails”

“The power of the Holy Spirit!”

This is quite a leap.

Plus you slandered the noble bird of prey and were happy it went hungry... I expected more compassion.

No I don’t care about hungry birds, I care about hungry humans.

In the bible birds are usually a symbol of something. The Dove represents, peace, a message or prophecy, and the Holy Spirit.

The crow is something evil, unclean.

Does anybody know any more about this???

“No I don’t care about hungry birds, I care about hungry humans.”

I see. You admit you are uncaring. Hmmmfp.

“In the bible birds are usually a symbol of something. The Dove represents, peace, a message or prophecy, and the Holy Spirit.”

Sometimes. Not always. In this case, these were doves and were not in the Bible. They were in Rome.

Compassion for people friend. You are either joking or grew up around too many liberals. Only liberals will protest a giraffe in zoo being euthanized, and applaud baby and elderly human beings being euthanized.

Read the bible friend. That said, I found this.

Proverbs 30:17
New International Version (NIV)
“The eye that mocks a father,
that scorns an aged mother,
will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley,
will be eaten by the vultures.

Yup, no respect these days.

This discussion is not about abortion or euthanasia. I’ve been joking about your lack of compassion for the hungry bird of prey.

“Read the bible friend.”

Done it. Do it.

Ravens are not doves. Great passage though.

Ok 2 doves were attacked by a crow and a seagull. The doves were released by children in the Vatican, and offerred with prayers from the pope for the Ukraine.

It was certainly a message as far as I am concerned. Omen’s can also be good. Shortly after this event, the Ukraine, Venezuela, Thailand broke out in what could be categorized as revolutionary or civil wars. The fact that defenseless civilians are willing to stand up to tanks, machine guns, and face death, are acts of bravery that serve as hope for all citizens. You can not possibly imagine what courage it takes to do what theynare doing.

At least in the case of Venezuela, the entire nation in living in pure chaos, right now. Priests have beem thrown in jail, and the death toll is MUCH higher than reported. The media doesn’t show 1/100 of what is really going on.

We are living under massive deception in the US. There is so much distortion of truth that to me it amounts to psycholical abuse on civilians by gas lighting. Not kidding.

So what was that message all about?

It was not an omen. I was nature feeding itself.

You might be interested in knowing we’ve entered the cycle of war, according to Martin Armstrong. The events in Thailand, Ukraine and Venezuela are right on schedule. I commend his work to you.

best
