On Ukraine, Putin holds all the cards and dictates the timetable
Haaretz ^ | Feb. 27, 2014 | Anshel Pfeffer

If Russia invades Ukraine, the timing may be determined by the situation on the ground in Moscow more than the streets of Kiev and Simferopol.

When will we know the Russians have invaded Ukraine? We won’t. Unlike the summer of 2008 when paratroop brigades crossed the border into Georgia’s sovereign territory under the pretext of aiding the Ossetian minority, marines of the Russian Black Sea Fleet are already stationed on Ukrainian soil. The agreement between the two countries not only allows warships to be based at the port of Sevastopol, but also for Russian military vehicles to traverse the Crimean peninsula.

...

everything remains deniable. Russian President Vladimir Putin has committed himself to nothing. He continues to hold all the cards. The armed men could leave, clinging to their anonymity, or identify themselves as Ukrainian citizens concerned for their country’s “democracy.”

...

Putin .. doesn’t have to decide right now. The elections for a new Ukrainian government are scheduled to take place in three months, and he can continue to dictate the agenda and timetable. His troops are already in place.

I agree. But, even if Reagan were in the White House, there would not be a whole lot we could [or should] do. The Ukraine is in Russia’s backyard and they do call the shots.

Putin did invade, Russian troops control two strategic airports near the coast with the Black Sea in Crimea.

He will take at least part of the Ukraine and make it part of Russia. There is no one who will stop him, nor will they dare with any serious sanctions.

It is just the beginning...

Reagan already would have put missiles there.

This is exactly what happens when uninformed voters elect a she-male like Obama. Obama is Putin’s bottom boy, and they both know it.

It’s a mystery why Vladimir Putin doesn’t take our one-man cheering squad for man-on-man sodomy seriously.

Anybody agitating for US action over the Ukraine shouldn’t cry unfair if Putin sticks his nose into Mexican affairs.

What Putin will take over might be a headache like one he never had before. The reason Ukraine and Crimea left Russia was because they no longer wanted Russia to rule. They wanted their independence so not too sure Putin is not making a mistake since much of the population wanted nothing to do with the Putin type.

Of course Putin holds all the cards.

America is led by pathetic pajama-boys, whose prime foreign policy goal is the promotion of homosex around the globe. Putin has a green-light to do any damn thing he wants to, as America further decays economically, culturally and morally, towards oblivion.

Putin lives and operates in reality. America has descended into a crazed and decadent madness.
