Former Democratic Rep. Gene Taylor (Miss.) is switching to the Republican Party and launching a bid against the man who beat him in 2010, Rep. Steve Palazzo (R-Miss.).

This “Party Switch” could be nothing more then placing a Fox in the Hen house.
Taylor was arguably one of Nancy’s least reliable troopers
He’s more conservative than a New England GOP
I know a progressive in his district whose head likely exploded over this
He gave big bucks to Gene.....my friend is a tort lawyer

The incumbent (Palazo) is on the primary my congressmen list of the Club for Growth. Don’t know how Taylor would play out.
Not a real fan of Party switchers. I mean, welcome and all, but I won’t trust you for a very long time.
The Big Tent philosophy is what’s getting the entire GOP into trouble. If the GOP would, just, stay a conservative political party, on all of the issues, from day one and for always, then they would be in much better political shape today.
We don’t see this (party switchers) much in Washington state. The one time I recall it happening it didn’t work out too well because 1. he wasn’t welcomed to the pubbie party, 2. he was trashed by the dhimmi party, and 3. he wasn’t trusted by anyone!
Not saying much since New England GOP'ers would have been considered ultra liberal a few years ago. Hopefully, he will be different if he is elected as a Republican.

This happens every time the Republicans are in the process of winning or has won. The switching democrats have
convinced too many republicans to act like democrats. A
democrat is a democrat, no matter which side of the aisle
they happen to sit on.
It does seem difficult, if not impossible, for a politician to change his spots. Like a Chameleon, they are very good at disguising themselves but they still remain a Chameleon.
He’s just missing all the perks of the office. He doesn’t have any real skills other than living off of the taxpayers.
Problem with that strategy is that so many politicians at the federal level are sociopaths.
Not as if these days there’s any difference between the two parties.
When I was in grad school at Southern Miss, Taylor was running against a very popular conservative Republican. I thought he was wasting his time but he was really out there shaking hands etc.
He even came on campus and went around glad handing everyone including me. He lost by a large margin but the rep who beat him (and whose name escapes me right now) died in a plane crash not long after the election.
Taylor was in good shape for the election to replace him. He won and as near as I could tell was about as conservative as most Republican.

Thanks, I kept trying to remember him but I seem to have a lot more mental blocks than when I was younger.
The only question is ‘did he vote for o’care?’
While Gene Taylor did vote against Obamacare, no rational person can look at his voting record (including multiple votes to elect Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House) and conclude that he is more conservative than Steven Palazzo. While Rep. Palazzo isn’t conservative enough for my taste, we need a Tea Party type challenger, not an ineffective retread like Gene Taylor.
