Any war led by Obama or Slow Joe will be mucked up.

why would it be more than a private ugliness between the Ukraine and Russia.

Because someone will harangue O'bama with a red Sharpie.

... in other words isolationists will have a good realpolitik argument too. We do not WANT Barack Obama to have a hand in this. Nor, if Barack should get impeached, Slow Joe.

And, true, the dirty way Putin suggests he wants to fight (who else would invite the Chechens in, after having sent in an outlaw biker gang) might get a lot of lefties rather exercised over humanitarian concerns. And THAT might get Barack perturbed.

Obastard only gets perturbed when it’s “his people” being oppressed. He doesn’t give two craps if all the combatants are white.

Hmmm. Good point. {thinks...} I believe race will trump “religion,” and the boy president sits this one out.

You are correct. The Ukrainians indirectly control a lot of the money tha flows into Russian coffers. Without control of the pipelines in the entire country, Russia needs a Ukrainian government that plays nice with. In a just world, Ukraine would be flourishing and Russia would be much less of a world player.

Pretty brilliant. Like letting the Soviets shed most of the blood for the allies, in WWII.

Putin: A double victory; take back (part of) Ukraine for now, and kill off muslims.

They need each other. Russia has the oilfields, Ukraine has the pipelines to get that oil to the European market. It’s like Canada and the US. If we were the Ukraine, Canada would be invading us because of Obastard’s perfidy over Keystone.

Letting? Like we could have done something about that? Like change geography perhaps? Or stop Stalin from squandering his soldier’s lives by refusing to allow strategic withdrawals?

The truth is, despite Russian propaganda to the contrary, roughly half the German military was deployed against the US and Britain from 1942 onward. And as Patton noted, nobody ever won a war by dying for their country, and we did as much to make the poor dumb bastards die for their country as Russia did.

Heck, the Soviets STARTED the war when they agreed with Hitler to carve up Poland.

If the Soviets shed more blood than we did, it’s because they weren’t as well led. The Soviets did not have the best of brass because they killed off the best ones in purges, leaving a bunch of George Armstrong Custers to fight a real war. They were lucky they didn’t get overrun in the first months of the war.

Well they’re lucky Stalin didn’t kill off Zhukov.

Of course that didn’t stop Zhukov from getting demoted by Stalin after the war....he committed the worst crime imaginable in Stalin’s Russia, he was too popular.

He was popular because a lot of good soldiers came out alive because of him, so yeah. That’ll make a General popular.

What really irks me is how Stalin treated those who were most loyal and fought for him...see how he treated the heroes of the defense of Leningrad....shameful, how anyone could worship this guy is beyond me.

They didn’t fight for “him.” They fought for Mother Russia, and Stalin knew they’d turn on him in a second. They would have, too.

Yes... I imagine Muslims are a sore spot with Putin. And therefore Obama is a sore spot, not in the way Bush was, but one that Putin could gall by sending in the Chechens.
