The The National Rifle Association (NRA) has brought out the big guns to stop the U.S. Senate from confirming President Obama’s nominee for surgeon general.
Late Friday, Chris Cox, the executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action released a letter he sent to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to notify them that his organization “strongly opposes” confirmation of Dr. Vivek Murthy.
A spokesman for the NRA told me that the five-million member organization will score the Senate vote, meaning that it counts toward a member’s rating in campaigns. The NRA decision will undoubtedly make vulnerable Democrats up for reelection in the midterms reconsider voting party line on this nominee.
On Thursday, Democrat-controlled Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee approved the nomination. Afterwards, Sen. Rand Paul, Kentucky Republican, said he will put a “hold” on Dr. Murthy’s nomination because of the nominee’s inexperience and gun-control positions.
However, Mr. Reid’s new Senate rules mean Mr. Paul’s attempted filibuster won’t take effects because nominees can be confirmed with only 51 votes.
Mr. Cox wrote the Senate leaders that, “Dr. Murthy’s record of political activism in support of radical gun control measures raises significant concerns about his ability to objectively examine issues pertinent to America’s 100 million firearms owners and the likelihood he would use the Office of Surgeon General to further his preexisting campaign against gun ownership.”

The senate will confirm him and it's just another sign of the madness permeating Washington DC.
Murthy only completed his residency in 2006. He is British-born of Indian parents who re-located from England to Miami where Murthy grew up He attended leftist-controlled Yale and Harvard.
He is a radical activist who supports and campaigns for draconian gun control measures as well as for the failing, socialist ObamaCare.
His appointment to high status and power is nothing but a sorry pay-back for his slavish support for Obama and fascist, socialized medicine.

With a Russian warship in Havanna harbor and the Spetznatz troops in Ukraine it is time for the country to wake up and realize that this administration and its traitorous party has de-fanged our military to the point that we are close to being incapable of responding. About half of our Navy has been mothballed, and the Air Force just notified the Congress that it only has limited capacity to respond to any threat.
Of course the traitorous media has failed to report these alarming facts. Iowa - who turned their back on G*d for their crops and prosperity to embrace Marxist subsidies - has supplied a bi-partisan traitor called Chuck Hagel who has dutifully been dismantling our military for the Democraps... all in the name of comity and bi-partisanship. During the Clintooon Admin the story came out that the Admin was defunding the program to produce tritium. What is tritium? The trigger that sets off our advanced nuclear weapons when needed; it is relatively easy to produce with the right technology, but the substance is not stable enough to endure for more than maybe 10 years, so it must be constantly produced as replacement for existing nukes.
Our traitorous media has learned their lesson: IF tritium is not being produced they would never tell us now, just as they have failed to report the emasculation of our military. IF tritium is not being produced - or some similar trigger - then our nukes are regularly being retired as 'unusable'.
I mention this as only one obscure issue that we are probably not being informed about. I suppose this sounds like alarmist tripe - and perhaps it is - but OTOH it never hurts to remain alert and awake. With all the damage to our national defense, what have the Repubs said or done? NOTHING! SIGH

What could they do that would be effective that wouldn't also remind everyone that they failed to change the rules when the GOP had the majority and got The Gang of 14 fiasco instead. The rats fooled the GOP once again. What's new? It's time to primary the RINOs and the dead wood, IMHO. Starting a new party is a gift to the rats.
Since you obviously didn't understand my point, I'll spell it out for you.
1) McConnell, and his GOPe ilk, have stood back and let Hemorrhoid Reid and Barrack Hussein Obammunist run roughshod over the Constitution. They have no guts for a fight, and fighters are what we need. He's worthless, spineless, and the NRA loves him.
2) As recently as 2010, the NRA rated Hemorrhoid Reid a "B". Yeah, so he got some pork barrel money to build some shooting ranges in Nevada...so flippin' what? The whole state is a shooting range! He played them like a Stradivarius, knowing he could get their support, then turn around and push the Obammunist's Commie agenda, which, by the way, is rabidly anti-gun. The NRA-ILA got suckered, because they can't see beyond the ends of their noses.
There's more to being a pro-RKBA organization than just supporting pro-2nd Amendment politicians. Liberals are the enemy, and are by default, anti-gun. The NRA needs to get its collective head out of its collective a**, and start supporting only conservatives, like the GOA.
