Congress pushes for Russia sanctions, Ukrainian aid
USA Today | March 1, 2014

Posted on 03/01/2014 5:25:56 PM PST by Jim Robinson

Led by Manchurian candidate and old warhorse himself Senator John McCain, of course. Calls for immediate actions against Russia (even though admitting Obama, not unlike himself, is incompetent, incapable, impotent and incontinent).

The US might vote to give some foreign aid to Ukraine (like the token aid for Georgia) but they aren’t going to sanction Russia in any real way. We going to send them some mothballed A-10 Warthogs?

Lets see, aid factions that want to put Ukraine under the thumb of a Russian tribal post comkunist warlord, or factions that want to help Ukraine be devoured by the ravenous financially collapsing European socialist state.

Hmmm.

Don’t see any course that is beneficial either to the Ukrainians or the US at this point. Two years ago probably. even nine months ago at a long shot. But not now.

Are we sending at least 25 Army divisions, strategic bombers, special forces, attack helicopters, all our Marines and 10 squadrons of fighters and 1,000 tanks? Because if we’re not, whatever we’re doing is futile.

But when McCain was running for President he went on and on about debt and cutting the deficit. So now he wants the US to bolster up the bankrupt Ukraine?

A) I imagine sanctioning Russia is pretty difficult because its economy is so large

B) How would China react?

C) How could Russia retaliate?

Do you recall that in a thread just a few months ago we had idiots arguing that the time for the A10 and weapons platforms like it was past...because all wars from now on were going to be “Asymmetrical”?

Jim, this is saying this is going to cost us $$ according to the article. Should have known, this was simply another way to bleed our treasury dry. Dang, those fools on the hill. Am so tired of our blood and treasury being sacrificed for nothing by those on the hill.

Seems to me that the EU should pony up the aid.

If we bail out Ukraine, we’ll sink ourselves further into debt. Why can’t Germany do it?

Sanctions are possible and should be instituted. Mikheil Saakashvili in this morning’s WSJ says that the last time he was in Miami, there were crowds of Russian oligarchs there vacationing. He said, deny them visas and they’ll turn on Putin.

Maybe Obama will send them a million copies of the Liberator zip gun.

An option that I posted on another thread:
“Don’t overlook the possibility of a divided Ukraine. The eastern half going back to Russia, and the west staying independent.”
The east is more Russian speaking, and connected to Russia, then the western half.

Can we find a way to sanction Arizona for reelecting McCain? It would cost a lot less of our tax dollars.

Better yet...tell the people in the EU who provoked this mess to clean it up. Leave the US out of it.

That’s the only option I see at this point.

As I said earlier, canceling the recently announced defense cuts is the first step to announce. Also, Putin would pick up on a readiness order to select military units. Obama will pass more gas.
