Interesting side-storyr:

Satirist under fire for comparing Sochi Games and Hitler's Olympics

Maybe he knew too much?

And lastly, Obama told Putin in person that once he was re-elected in 2012, that he would be in a much better position to give away/reduce our military/nuclear standing in Europe, and advised Putin to just “wait” a while until after the election.

It's a perfect storm of realpolitik backlash. All that Putin brings from a career with the KGB goes eyeball-to-eyeball with the quintessentially vacuous, moribund Progressive, placed in that position by a nation freefalling into decadence.

With a swiftness and organization that suggests the plans were hatched weeks ago...

Russia had one last Winter Olympic event: Hegemony.

Obama wants to signal weakness. He wants the world enslaved to socialism, and the US diminished militarily. His phoney-baloney speeches are only intended for plausible denial.

Before it's over, he'll find a way to give away our most sensitive military secrets. Hell, Bubba already got away with it.

Crimea was Russian until 1954, when Khruschev gave it to Ukraine as part of contemporary internal USSR political machinations. Crimea is less Ukrainian than Hawaii is American.

Putin wants stability in Ukraine.

Funny thing is that the Ukrainians are really mad at McCain and Kerry. It’s hilarious. They’re saying,

“Who are these McCain and Kerry and why are they getting involved in Ukraine? Do they want to move here?”

Good advise WSJ. Perhaps we can crew those sixth fleet ships with all the illegal aliens you want to make citizens before we sail them off to fight the russians.

Seriously?

With what army or navy is Putin going to invade and occupy the whole of eastern Europe?

At best we have them in the Crimea, around their already existing military base at the request of this friendly ethnic Russian majority that has all but seceded from the rest of the Ukraine, that is in a civil war, and you have them marching practically into Vienna if we dont what?

If you are looking for a shooting war over this with Russia, then you need to snap out of it.

Crimea

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Autonomous Republic of Crimea

The Cimmerians, Bulgars, Greeks, Scythians, Goths, Huns, Khazars, the state of Kievan Rus', Byzantine Greeks, Kipchaks, Ottoman Turks, Golden Horde Tatars and the Mongols each controlled Crimea in its earlier history. In the 13th century, it was partly controlled by the Venetians and by the Genoese; they were followed by the Crimean Khanate and the Ottoman Empire in the 15th to 18th centuries, the Russian Empire in the 18th to 20th centuries, Germany during World War II and the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic and later the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, within the Soviet Union during the rest of the 20th century.

Putin doesn’t want Western Ukraine

Like Hitler didn't want rump Czechoslovakia? The Western Ukraine is the pathway to Poland, Romania and Hungary.

And we (the West) can't/wont do a thing about it.

Why would you declare war on your neighbor country, simply because they had internal political strife?

Here we go. Obama has signaled the world that he has neutered our military, now they all have a green light.

Folks, this is an excellent object lesson. As we falter, others wills step up. We’re not going to like much of it either.

If Russia gets away with this, they can and will do it again. They’ll do it in short order too.

We’re going backwards folks, and thus the world is as well. This isn’t good. Welcome to the 1930s.

We should do nothing

What? We go to war with Russia? I know... who am I? However, I must admit I am not to thrilled with the possibility of such a prospect. Are the Ukranians with their antisemitism such great guys?

Sarah Palin warned that if America voted for Obama, then Putin would invade Ukraine. It is kind of funny that people complain about something that they voted for in 2008 and 2012.

The world abhors a vacuum, and when America pulls out, something worse always rushes in.

Now that's a pretty good argument for NOT going in the first place, don't you think?
