There’s also the fact that it has completely erased all of Obama’s domestic problems from the news.
It should be absolutely NO SURPRISE that there are anti-Semites in the Ukraine. That's like saying there are Irish in Boston. It has a long, illustrious anti-Semitic history.
The piece from Channel 4 in Britain also mentions anti-Semitism and is much before this Crimea thing happened.
Hay, that's funny!
Andriy Parubiy [right] co-founder of the Neo-Nazi Social-National Party of Ukraine (subsequently renamed Svoboda) was appointed Secretary of the National Security and National Defense Committee (RNBOU).
Jews are a little bit perceptive when it comes to anti-Semitism. You can't blame them for pointing it out.
This is the same old straw man, red herring russian propaganda we have seen for a week or so. There are a few neo nutzies but they are the minority. Jews in the Israel Defense Force are returning and organizing anti Putin/Stalin resistance forces.
Much of the article is old, recycled disinformation that keep getting reposted.
Having several impotent nuts in the Ukraine does not justify another Russian invasion.

That is an outstanding post, Dio.

Jews are native in Ukraine.
Svoboda holds 38 seats out of 450 in Parliament. It got 10% of the vote. There are 15,000 members of the party. It is a minority party that does not represent the views of the vast majority of Ukrainians.
In before the Soros Fan Club! (’We love ‘im so much we hate him!’)
Svoboda IS a neo-Nazi political party.
The full name of the party is “Ukranian National Socialists (copied from the Nazis); their flag is a derivative of the Nazi flag, and their slogan copied directly from the Nazis: “Ukraine for the Ukrainians.”
They fly white-power flags, wear WWII German helmets, and rant about “Jewish influence.”
(This is NOT an endorsement of their opponents.)
That is an outstanding post, Dio.

Everyone who is a patriot is a ‘neo-Nazi’ to the left! An old, tired meme.
Svoboda is, however, leading the fight.
And they ARE Nazis, not merely characterized as Nazis.
Fortunately for Ukraines estimated 350,000 Jews, the third largest Jewish community in Europe, there is Israel. Last week, Russian-born Knesset Member Rina Frenkel, who lived in Kiev before moving permanently to Israel in 1990, sent a letter to Prime Minister Netanyahu, asking him to initiate an immediate rescue effort for Ukrainian Jews, to provide a framework to help Jews emigrate to Israel, and referring to Ukrainian history, which is replete with anti-Semitic murders and pogroms.
What interest does this Communist-leaning administration have in promoting a neo-Nazi regime in Putin’s back yard?
Exactly!
Don’t trifle with mere details.
I understand. I’m Jewish.
I’m also unwilling to paint a widely varied political opposition to Putinism as Neo-Nazi when it seems that only some of them are.
I’m open to a full political expression of the Ukes in a free vote to see what sorts of parties win what proportions. We can judge and apply actions afterwards accordingly.
The fact that Putinism was thrown out is a general good to me, chosen by the Ukes themselves. Let’s hope that in their wisdom they replace the bad with a different general good.
(Yeah, yeah, “hope is not a strategy” and all that.... but we didn’t, and nobody here is suggesting we put boots on the ground.)
I got lambasted in a thread today for pointing out, we have bad and worse in this situation. Ukrainians were active and enthusiastic collaborators with the Totenkopf SS and in fact had whole divisions in the SS. They gave up their Jews readily and greeted the Nazi Panzers with wreaths of flowers. Sure Stalin starved them but that does not excuse them of their guilt. I know it was a gazillion years ago, but let’s not coronate the Ukrainian people as gentle Western Europeans being occupied by hardline communists. We have one group of corrupt Russian gangsters fighting corrupt Ukrainian gangsters. I say get the popcorn and let’s watch them slug it out.
