Translation from Russian. Russian speaking Ukrainians do not want to be part, nor slaves again of refurbished Soviet "Empire". Contrary to the propaganda and misinformation spread by Putinskies.

I understand what he is saying, but this shouldn't help him in any case.

We’ve some thick heads here who see Putin as some type of savior and a rather pleasant alternative to the idiot Obama. I only wish half of these people would try to understand that their sympathy and new found respect for President-for-Life Putin, the former KGB Colonel, is an affront to all things that real conservatives stand for if they understand what conservatism is about. We’re not champions of Putin’s Russian Imperialism. We’re not champions of Putin’s cronyism. We don’t support hostile takeovers of independent countries. We are not gullible to slick former communist propaganda.

Merkel is astonished, but this guy isn’t surprised, just disgusted.

As a former KGB, Putin is not phased by thoughts of civil war and desolation. It is up to the rest or the world to adjust to reality.

Putin has never done anything that affects my life, liberty, or my pursuit of happiness. I can not say the same about Obama. Putin is not trying to disarm me. Putin is not undermining my constitution. Putin is not weakening, nay destroying, this country. I don’t hive a damn about Putin and I wouldn’t lift a finger to stop him if he conquered all of Europe because I don’t give a damn about them anymore either.

If the Democrats want me to care about Ukraine, then they are going to have to convince me that they (the Democrats) care more about The United States than they care about the Democrat party.

Russian speaking Ukrainians do not want to be part, nor slaves again of refurbished Soviet "Empire".

More than 3 million ethnic Russians have re-identified as Ukrainians since 1991, according to this article. Putin may have a lot more than just ethnic Ukrainians to subdue.

You could say the exact same thing about Obama if you were a Russian.

Only in that case whatever life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness that you still had would be completely at the mercies of Putin and his mafia state.

Your guns would have been confiscated long ago by Putin and his outright ban on handguns and any weapon that was not a hunting rifle.

You would not have any faith in the Russian Constitution at all, given that it is ignored with impunity whenever Putin and his cronies see fit.

Whatever attacks are being made on our natural rights here, just remember that we still have it a lot better than the Russians do.

An ethnic Ukrainian called Michael Savage today whose family lives in Kiev, and he agrees with Putin! He says Crimea and East Ukraine belongs in Russia, and that there should be a referendum to accomplish this. He also said he doesn't trust the E.U.

This chaotic difference of opinions is why I don't want the U.S. or NATO anywhere near this mess.

I tend to agree, there needs to be a divorce, you simply can’t have two peoples’ bitterly opposed to each other living under the same roof....The Czechs and Slovaks did it peacefully, the Yugoslavs.....not so much.

The Russians made their bed and now they sleep in it. If they have a problem with it, they should remake it. It’s their affair. It’s none of my concern. My only concern is resisting any attempts to have our bed made in a similar fashion over here. The entire world could erupt into war around me and I will yet remain keenly focused on opposing any and all threats to my liberty and my constitution. I have twice sworn an oath to defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic. I never swore an oath to defend the Ukraine against Vladmir Putin. And if our military leaders can’t manage to grasp that concept they deserve to have their budgets slashed AFAIC.

This guy is full of bravado now. When his entire world is exploding and in flames, he may sing a different tune. I'm certainly no expert, but from my understanding of history, logistics and manpower usually wins (e.g. the American Civil War). Russia certainly has that in spades over Ukraine.

The Ukraine doesn't have the geographic advantage that Russia had during WW II where they could trade space for time by retreating. If Russia invades, I suspect it's do or die for Ukraine. I don't see the EU jumping in, not after the experience they had in 1914 and 1939, but hey - what do I know.

Another way of looking at it is whether Putin wants to risk another Afghanistan. If I'm wrong about Ukraine's ability and will to resist (very possible), and Russia's invasion gets bogged down, that resurrects a lot of ghosts from 1979.

You are talking different nations in Czecho-Slovakia, and in “Yugoslavia”
There is no “Ukrainian Ukraine” and “Russian Ukraine”
There is sovereign Ukraine that was occupied by Soviets, gained independence and now was tried by Yanukovych to be thrown back and sold to Putin . Freedom loving people of Ukraine peacefully protested this, only to by shut by snipers.
Time to distinguish between commie propaganda and reality of oppressed people of Ukraine, whatever speaking.
