Pope Francis dropped an F-bomb during his Sunday prayer at St. Peter's Square

“If each one of us does not amass riches only for oneself, but half for the service of others, in this f–k [pause], in this case the providence of God will become visible through this gesture of solidarity,” Francis said to the faithful gathered in St. Peter’s Square, Italian media reported.

Italian, Spanish and Latin are so close the “mistake” could not have been a mistake...just a relaxed Pope talking to friends.

Wonder how it sounds like in Italian...

Italian?

Probably had some hand gestures involved as well.

Sounds like that 113th pope thing being the last might make this guy the right guy. He thinks all the atheists are going to heaven and the Muzzies and Christians all worship the same God. Duh.

You’ll be F-bombing that Ferrarri when you find out how much it’s going to cost to get it out of the shop this time.

Let it go. Gaffes are oddly newsworthy.

Imagine the Pope pronouncing Gamecock’s handle.

“his defenders took to the Internet to say it was a common mistake for native Spanish speakers when they talk in Italian.”

It was his accent and people are making a big deal of it, working hard to misinterpret it. For shame.

First off this is really too comical a thread to get into this, but...Catholics are supposed to give the pope's words grave consideration, but are not bound UNLESS he his speaking ex cathedra, or in union with the magisterium.

Popes have only spoken ex cathedra a handful times between all of them. So its not some kind of conspiracy when Catholics say "he wasn't speaking ex cathedra at the time," because, he wasn't.

Maybe we should all be healing the sick and wandering the globe in poverty. Without internet access and accouterments.

On a different note you may want to turn on your porch lights -- I just got a direct line from the Vatican, there are some albino assassin monks planting f-bombs in your vegetable garden. All your veggies are going to start swearing at you. That's what you get for blowing our cover!

Strange you thought this was Breaking News.

When you take into account the poster is a reliable Catholic basher, it's not that strange. Not sure how long it stayed on the sidebar. The timestamp from the NYP was 10 this morning.

I realize the man made a mistake but I was just chuckling how Catholics play both sides of the fence depending on how things are perceived. They go into full blown attack if they think he was justified (making everyone else wrong) OR they go full speed the other way (He wasn’t speaking ex-cathedra)if he made an obvious error. As far as giving this man grave consideration, I would rather direct my efforts toward Gods Word. And I do appreciate the heads up about my garden. Peace be unto you.
