Putin Doesn't Threaten Our National Security, Obama Does
American Thinker ^ | 3-5-14 | Don Feder

Vladimir Putin isn’t the Easter Bunny. On the other hand, he isn’t Joseph Stalin. It takes a truly fevered imagination to see Russian forces in the Crimea as a prelude to Russian tanks rolling across Europe toward Berlin and Paris.

Putin is a power player who cares more about Russia’s national interests, and Russian minorities in his near abroad, than in that mythical force known as world opinion. Would that America had a president who cared more about our interests than in promoting globalism and the left’s social agenda.

The Crimea’s population is 60% ethnic Russian. For most of the past 800 years, the Ukraine has been Russian.

Good points.

Ukraine is none of our business.

We find fault with the Russians when in truth the fault lies with ourselves.

Russians take one hard look at us and they never want to copy the decadent West.

Its not too hard to imagine why Russian President Putin wants to keep Ukraine out of its clutches.

But, what about those poor Crimean refugees fleeing in terror to escape the Russian hordes?

Oh. They’re not.

I don’t want WWIII. Guess I’m feckless.

Putin stuck a cattle prod up the Rats butts, and it’s hard for me not to just sit back and enoy it.

All good points and true. The People’s enemy sleeps at 1600 Pennsyvania Ave. I wonder how long it will be until an NSA employee with a conscience releases 0’s conversations of betrayal with Soros and our Muslim enemies to the public?

It’s bordering on hilarious to listen to the usual war mongers rattling their sabers and banging on their war drums. who do they think they’re fooling with their BS? There’s not a chance in hell that we’re going to war with Russia over anything. I guess while we were pretending that the cold war was over, some of us forgot about that cold war concept known as “Mutually Assured Destruction”. Nuclear superpowers do not go to war with each other and nobody in their right mind seriously provokes such a confrontation.

There is something between the Easter Bunny and Stalin that can threaten our interest. Tanks rolling into the Baltic Republics( which have Russian minorities as high as 30%) and Poland threatens our interest. No need to get all the way to Paris.

The Pro-Russian Ukrainian government was as democratic as the government in Russia or Venezuela. Having pretend elections with controlled media does not make a state democratic.

Austria,Sudetenland, Saarland, and Memel-Klaipeda had willing ethnic German populations that were annexed by Hitler.

Does not make it legal or prudent for the West to accept.

Chamberlin did not want WWII. The easiest route to WW III is kowtowing to dictators of powerful countries. Allowing Putin to take Ukraine gives him the confidence and added resources to threaten NATO. Without Ukraine Russia is a paper tiger.

Those are the Geopolitical Stakes. That is very much American business.

The other option is Fortress America. And let a Russian dominated Europe battle Islam and China for global hegemony and hope the winner treats us kindly.

All three have a history of treating conquered and subjugated peoples sooo kindly.

I’m curious in another direction. Forget banging war drums. Why isn’t anybody banging on the UN’s door. These are supposed to be the modern peace keepers, laughable as they are. Wouldn’t they want to help stave off chaos if it really is a crisis with Crimea?

It’s an interesting world, and forgetting about God is a lot of what has made it so “interesting” for America lately. God isn’t some mere symbolic ground of morality.

Excellent article.

Ukrainians and Russians are our Christian brothers and sisters. Our Muslims president and Islam are our enemies.

Wake up, people!

Because America has fallen so far recently is no excuse for treason or cheering foreign dictators who pay lip service to some tenets of Christianity.

Putin might love God more than average America does, come to think of it.

And I’m talking about sheer consequences that follow as surely as night will follow day. American betrayed itself to Satan, a worse foe than Russia.

It is real hard to get excited about Putin securing the Crimea when the far bigger threat to America sits in the White House. Until and unless the US frees itself from the Left’s death grip on government, Putin is a distraction from the real battle for America’s future.

If Obama and the media can get us worried about Putin, then we are not worrying about ObamaCare.

Hear! Hear!
Someone should remind it to SKerry, the saber-rattler.

McCain was on the senate floor spreading fear about Ukraine and Russia...

Seems some of this is in return for Putin's push-back in Syria, and objection to US backing Islam rebels
