Russian Warship Sunk Off Crimea

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense released the above image today showing the Russian Navy’s Ochakov, a Kara-class cruiser, which was intentionally sunk last night to blockade the Ukrainian Navy ships located in Novoozerne.

no, we have a DD enroute into there through the Bosporus. bigger question is, will USN assets in the Black Sea be targets for Russian missiles and land based air.

It has been about 4 years since I toured the harbor at Sevastopol
t that time both fleets looked poorly with the heavier stuff laid up
Fleet auxiliaries looked all right but the shipyards weren’t working

The Russians only blocked a passage from an inlet / harbor / “lake” to the Black Sea. If you look at Google Maps (etc.) for Donuzlav Lake, Crimea, you can see the obvious spot to block.
