Atheists Force Woman to Remove Cross Honoring Dead Son
GOPUSA ^ | March 8, 2014 | Bobby Eberle

There has been so much news lately of schools, organizations, and individuals being harassed by atheist groups, but this one sets a new low. In this case, a grieving mother erected a roadside cross where her son was killed, and now an atheist group has forced her to take it down. What is wrong with these people???

As reported by The Press Enterprise, a roadside cross was erected for 19-year-old Anthony Vincent Devaney who in May 2012 was killed crossing a street.

A complaint prompted the American Humanist Association in Washington, D.C., to intervene, contending the placement of the symbol in the city right-of-way violated the separation of church and state.

This is just one reason why atheists are not compatible with conservative ideals.
Conservative ideals: The lady would be allowed to keep her cross.
Oh yeah, Not Soj and Albionin are gone.
Oopsies.

One notes that they didn’t have the guts to take
it down on their own, they have to compell someone
else to assume responsibility.

Here in Texas, the highway folks tend to go out of their way to preserve roadside memorials.

Absolutely 1000% spot on. And it’s the #1 reason why Obama gets away with the crap he does. Nobody does anything about it. I mean how crazy is this: A sitting US President freely admits he is going to do whatever he wants and bypass Congress - in essence act like a dictator. And how do Republicans react to this? *crickets* *crickets*

Crosses on the right of ways of roadways, homes, hospitals near where loved ones died, are not only part of the Christian American culture, but a right under the First Amendment.

The atheists have gone way too far and we as Christians have the right to place crosses on public near the places family members die.

There is NO SEPARATION OF CHURCH and STATE.
That was an interpretation by a modern day judge. He was wrong. He widen the Constitution. The Constitution prohibits the Government from establishing a State religion. PERIOD. I would not remove the cross. Screw these haters......

per the article:

Devaney's removal of her cross did not go unnoticed, however. As Fox News reports, when Devaney took down her cross, more appeared. grieving California mom who, under pressure from an atheist group, went to the site where her son was killed to remove a memorial cross was met at the scene by a throng of supporters who planted crosses of their own. "They said they have to take that one down,"

Doug Johnson, a Riverside resident who traveled to the site with his daughter and six home-made crosses, told The Riverside Press-Enterprise. "But they didn't say anything about putting another one up."

Very good observation. Atheists can make a very religion like and aggressive doctrine. Another indication that we are “hard wired” for religion.

These memorials ar all over the public roads around here. They are taken down after a while by the hwy department because they are eyesores and I personally find them in disgustingly poor taste. Cross/star of David / whatever. I find them in questionable taste as I do the etched glass or decal memorials on the rear windows of cars.

Memorials should be in your heart, not the mean streets nor the back windows of cars that will rust and be crushed

If the memorial was on their property I wish them well. If it was just on the side of a public road, I say no.

Near my home is a Highway Memorial to FIVE teens who were killed in a tragic accident many years ago. Four of the Teens were Christian and One Jewish. The Four Crosses and One Star of David have stood unmolested on that site for over 15 YEARS.

Across the street is the Kabbalah Center, and as far as I know, there have never been any complaints about this memorial just a few feet from their front door.

A true “atheist” would not care if other people displayed their faith.

It is the Anti-Theist that makes a fuss.

A mile or so down the street a family has built a shrine at an intersection where their 19 year old son was killed by a drunk driver. I feel for them but there comes a time when you have to let go and move on.

I know a family back in the 80s whose 12 year old daughter was killed when her bicycle was hit by a car. They kept the mangled bike in her room along with framed pictures of their dead child hanging on the walls.

With that said, if the cross in on her property she should be allowed to do as she pleases.

Perceptive.

Leftist always depend on “others” to do the work. Eventually, those who actually do the work quit following the direction of their Ivory-Tower bosses and impose their own will. That’s why a leftist society always ends in cruel dictatorship.

“Why doesn’t she sue back? “

Because she’ll be spending her money, but usually the other side is spending taxpayer money. It costs $5,000 cash, down and $500/hour to operate the “justice” system.

The chance of winning the right to put the cross up is 50/50, but the fight may cost her everything she owns.

I am sure they could adopt some symbolic, perhaps something like a blank circle. Atheists don’t appear very creative except for reasons to stop other people from expressing, perhaps even having, views/beliefs that prick their void of conscience.

Do not overlook the FACT that Communist Party - USA (CP-USA) openly endorsed the election of Barak Hussein Obama in 2008 and 2012.

This is a FACT.
