'Upskirt' ban in Massachusetts signed into law

(CNN) -- Modern-day peeping Toms in Massachusetts, the sorts who get their thrills snapping "upskirt" photos on crowded subways, now have their behavior criminalized.

Gov. Deval Patrick signed a bill Friday, according to his office, making photographing or recording video under a person's clothing -- think down a blouse or up a skirt -- a misdemeanor.

"The legislation makes the secret photographing, videotaping, or electronically surveiling of another person's sexual or other intimate parts, whether under or around a person's clothing or when a reasonable person would believe that the person's intimate parts would not be visible to the public, a crime," Patrick's office said in a prepared statement.

The crime is punishable by up 2½ years in jail or a fine of up to $5,000.

True story;

I came home late from school one 14 year old day because me and a girl went 'necking' in the woods.

I came home with a hickey and my mother hit the roof, pushed me into the car and raced to the parish priest.

I forget everything ever said in that meeting (with my mother presaent) except this incredulous statement from the priest ...

"And ... and ... she BIT you ?"

No skirt ... it was no bite.

I’ve known about this practice for years and have wondered what kind of thrill does the sicko who does it get? Pornography has always been available for purchase.

On a funny note, if it were used exclusivley as it pertains to the women of the democratic party it wouldnt be an issue because thier wouldnt be a market for it

my own experience at that age, turned me away from the church for decades.

I held back when I was offered the holiest of holies....I had visions of some sort of demonic future in the fiery pits.......
after that I kicked myself in the butt for years for missing that opportunity, but truth be known that girl wound up ‘in trouble’ from another boy some months later, and as an ignorant/immature 14 years old I am sure I wouldn’t have known how to be ‘safe’ or how or where to buy protection even if I did know....

that was 51 years ago....I still consider myself RC thought I am sure the Church wouldn’t. I have a my own set of rules.

I am a Hybrid Catholic....and I am sure I will get taken to the woodshed by some here for saying it.

While those who would take up-skirt pictures creep me out, I wonder at what the ban really does. Most women's underwear cover more than a bikini bottom and I wonder about those who wear skirts without underwear - have caught a glimpse of a few over the years who forgot to sit properly. Kind of like a woman who wears a sheer blouse without bra and gets upset when someone glances at their highly visible nipples.

Would be a better law to decriminalize a physically painful reaction to those who snap such pics - amnesty for the victim, her husband/boyfriend, and anyone withing 10' of the incident when it was discovered.....let them know they can take the pics if so driven, but they should be prepared to swallow some teeth and blood when they get caught.

I am a Hybrid Catholic

a.k.a. a Protestant. At least, be honest.

The only reason that I can figure why women wear skirts is so men can look up them. So womens’ only gripe here is that they want to control who gets to do the looking.

there is no protestant church I am interested in(I am not protesting anything....just living my life the way I see fit...no need to go against the rules of one more denomination)

it is a familial thing....most Catholics I know are hybrid of one sort or another...My family and my wife’s family have been RC since forever....

a friend who is very Irish and his wife were not allowed to get married in a catholic church because of previous divorces and it was too expensive for them to go through the RC annulment process. but they raised their kids RC and sent them to Catholic school to boot.

I avoid receiving the sacrament, and usually only go once or twice a year....and by just looking at the church parking lot on Christmas or Easter compared to the most other Sundays I would say I am in good(or bad?) company.

Hypocrite? probably... but I do not care what others think, so its no skin off of my neck....

I admire your integrity in not receiving the Sacrament. That shows a respect for the Church that grows less and less to judge from the long lines at Communion and the short lines at Confession..

And, of course, you can identify any way you choose.

"I’ve known about this practice for years and have wondered what kind of thrill does the sicko who does it get?"

I've always considered it, sort of a PG version of rape. They're taking something from the photographed person without their permission, and that gets them their jollies.
