Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Sunday that Republicans will repeal the controversial healthcare law after President Obama leaves office in 2017.
Cruz became of the face of an unsuccessful effort to eliminate the healthcare law last year that resulted in a government shutdown.
Most Republicans backed off the repeal-or-shutdown position after sustaining political damage during the two-week standoff in October, but Cruz promised on Sunday during an appearance on ABC News’s “This Week” to continue trying to get rid of Obamacare during the remainder of the president’s term.
“I’ll give you one scenario where it could [be repealed before Obama leaves office],” Cruz said. “If there’s one thing that unifies politicians in both parties is that their top priority is preserving their own hide. If enough congressional Democrats realize they either stand with ObamaCare and lose or they listen to the American people and have a chance at staying in office, that’s the one scenario we could do it in 2015. If not, we’ll do it in 2017.”
Cruz reiterated his case against the healthcare law, arguing that it was “the most unpopular law in the country.
“Millions of people have lost their jobs, have lost their healthcare, been forced into part time work, and right now Washington isn’t listening to those people,” Cruz said. “That’s how we win elections and that’s also how we repeal Obamacare law.”

Obama is going do it before 2017.
As mentioned in related threads, I don't like Harvard Law School-indoctrinated Cruz's avoidance of discussing the fed's constitutionally limited powers. But I will reluctantly support him if that is who Obama guard dog Fx News nominates as Republican presidential candidate.
That said, regarding the repeal of Obamacare Democratcare, why isn't Cruz beating the drumb for patriots to also try to win 2/3 conservative control of both Houses of Congress in 2014 like patriots should have tried to do in 2012? Having supermajority control of Congress will give Congress the constitutional authority that it needs, under Clause 2 of Section 7 of Article I, the power to override presidential vetoes. So Congress would be able to repeal Obamacare Democratcare after 2014 elections without Obama's signature.
Note that Congress has used its power to override presidential vetoes as recently as Bushes 41 & 43, and also with Clinton.

So why is Cruz waiting until 2016 to repeal Obamacare Democratcare? Perhaps he's waiting for Democrats to blow themselves off of the political map in the first election after voters have to bear the burden of the full, constitutionally indefensible ACA tax tsunami? But I think that Cruz needs to diversify and at least let patriots know about both possibilities concerning repealing Obamacare Democratcare.
With all of the delays being made it won’t really be established. If Pubbies want to get elected and have the majority needed to repeal 0bamaCare they need to get on board with Cruz and run on the platform of repeal.
by 2017 it may be too entrenched - must be first thing on the agenda in 2015 with a veto proof Senate.
I think it would make for a kinder and gentler nation - beside f the fraud and all who ride with him. TSA has enough dynamite to at least get them to the lift-off stage. After all they did want to be involved in space - but low earth gravity may have to work.
By 2017 Obama will have allowed all of the mandates to go into effect and millions will be dumped from employer health plans. The only existing game in town for these souls to obtain coverage will be through the ACA. Costs and complexity will be out of control, so reform will be needed. Single payor to the rescue. Besides Cruz's scenario requires a GOP controlled Congress and White House which is not likely to happen.
Why not next January?
Whenever it takes, whatever it takes. The abomination of a law must be repealed.

BOOKMARK THIS Each state's Secretary of State is required to check into all cases of reported voter fraud. Course a Dem won't. But many states have Repub Secy's of State. They should be notified about illegals registering via O/Care.....and fraudulently plugged into Democrat voter rolls.
