Ted Cruz doesn’t get why media treats Obamacare repeal as a ‘bizarre proposition’
The Daily Caller ^ | 2:27 PM 03/09/2014 | Brendan Bordelon

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz can’t understand why the mainstream media views the repeal of Obamacare as a “bizarre proposition,” noting that the healthcare bill is “the most unpopular law in the country.”

Cruz spoke with ABC’s Jon Karl about his promise to “repeal every single word of Obamacare” while at CPAC this week. “We can acknowledge that that’s not going to happen why Barack Obama is president, right?” a skeptical Karl asked.

“Yeah, I’ll give you one scenario where it could,” the conservative senator responded. “If there’s one thing that unifies politicians of both parties, it’s their top priority is preserving their own hide.”

“And if enough congressional Democrats realize that they either stand with Obamacare and lose or listen to the American people and have a chance of staying in office, that’s the one scenario we can do it in 2015,” Cruz continued. “If not, we’ll do it in 2017.”

The ABC reporter was incredulous:

KARL: So you honestly think there’s a chance that you can get Obamacare repealed — every word, as you say.

CRUZ: Every single word.

KARL: With Obama in the White House.

CRUZ: You know, what’s funny Jon is the media treats that as a bizarre proposition –

KARL: Well it is!

CRUZ: [Crosstalk]

KARL: Just look at the size — it is a bizarre proposition, isn’t it?

CRUZ: It is the most unpopular law in the country. Millions of people have lost their jobs, have lost their healthcare, have been forced into part-time work, have their premiums skyrocketing. And right now Washington isn’t listening to those people. That’s how we win elections! And it’s also how we repeal Obamacare.

The repeal of the Volstead Act was not bizarre.

Neither would be the repeal (Please G-d) of Obamacare.

Obamacare is the bizarre proposition. Obama has amended it unconstitutionally dozens of times. Why the House has not started impeachment is also bizarre.

Yes, if Prohibition, put in place with a Constitutional amendment, could be repealed then so can the far worse disaster of ObamaCare, a piece of legislation that was passed by the most corrupt process ever used by Congress.

Careful - people like Bill Bennett would have thought it was. Bad precedent, you know.

Obamacare is THE issue.
This issue is both fiscal and social and it should be priority number one.
This one issue effects all the other issues more than any other.
This issue is heavy enough to cause bloodshed.
To NOT run with the goal of repealing it is just treasonous in my opinion.

Regardless what activist justices want everybody to think about the constitutionality of constitutionally indefensible Obamacare Democratcare, Cruz need to do the following. He needs to make sure that the media has received a copy of historical Supreme Court clarifications that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for public healthcare purposes which he sent them (ahem).
”State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress. (emphases added)” —Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

“Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States.” —Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

“Inspection laws, quarantine laws, health laws of every description (emphasis added), as well as laws for regulating the internal commerce of a state and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c., are component parts of this mass.” —Justice Barbour, New York v. Miln, 1837.

“Direct control of medical practice in the states is obviously (emphasis added) beyond the power of Congress.” –Linder v. United States, 1925.

This also further illustrates what an absolute disgrace the “mainstream” news media is.

That if it wasn’t for them running constant interference, Barry would be in the basement bunker of the White House 24hrs a day.

he understands.

He knows he was talking to the enemy when he said it. And Karl played perfectly into his hand by being so impulsively offended at the thought of repealing Obamacare.

You're kidding, right?

You don't understand a rhetorical question when you see/hear one?

It is deliberate, it is meant to do just what it is doing now and what I hate even more is our so called side telling us that we may not be able to kill it, or we must fix it, or it is something we can work with.

Well, I do’t get it either.

However, Obamacare destroyed what we had, so whoever wants to repeal it has to propose a good, immediately accessible stystem to replace it.

Get in with the insurance companies and medical profession and see what would work the best.
