McConnell: We Will 'Crush' Tea Party Challengers 'Everywhere'

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) believes that incumbent Republicans won't have a problem holding their seats in the 2014 elections.

"I think we are going to crush them everywhere," McConnell said about Tea Party challengers in a New York Times interview published Saturday. "I don’t think they are going to have a single nominee anywhere in the country."

McConnell faces a primary challenge from the right. The Senate Conservatives Fund, which backs Tea Party challenger Matt Bevin, believes the candidate has a chance of defeating McConnell the the primary.

"Mitch McConnell is clearly in trouble in this primary or he wouldn’t be attacking Matt Bevin and declaring war on conservatives," Matt Hoskins, the head of the SCF, told the New York Times.

Is this the same McConnell that played Billy Badass at CPAC?

There is no recording. It was out of a Noo Yawk Times article.

The article makes the following claim:

Mr. McConnell’s ad, his first singling out the Senate Conservatives Fund, raises a criticism that Speaker John A. Boehner and other Republicans have leveled at the activists — that they are fund-raising and business enterprises more than political operations. The ad refers to unnamed news media reports that assert that the PAC “solicits money under the guise of advocating for conservative principles but then spends it on a $1.4 million luxury townhouse with a wine cellar and hot tub in Washington, D.C.”

As Chuckie Schumer observed: "We're united. You're not."

I see this as a liberal “divide & conquer” story rather than substance.

Liberal Republican or Liberal Democrat?

As Chuckie Schumer observed: “We’re united. You’re not.”

Yes, thankfully not all Republicans support cutting vet pay. McConnell, Boehner and Ryan, OTOH, happily threw vets under the bus. Support them and their beltway careerist agenda if you wish. They care nothing for us on Main Street.

I think you’re on to something. I do not put it past the slimy NYTimes to deliberately misquote in an attempt to sow discord and disunity. They are that low.

"I think we are going to crush them everywhere," McConnell said about Tea Party challengers...

The Texas Primary is over, and the Tea Party wasn't crushed, nor even a little crumpled. Your statement is already false Senator.

Doubt it. They are simply afraid to the tea partiers, period.

“The Texas Primary is over, and the Tea Party wasn’t crushed, nor even a little crumpled. Your statement is already false Senator.”

They’re focusing on the US Senate. They are desperate to protect the US Senate from more conservatives.

The Tea Party in reality crushed the establishment in legislative races and others in Texas. The establishment is worried. They don’t have enough money to protect the US Senate and all the state legislatures. And the legislatures will be breeding grounds for innovative ideas, future congressmen and senators and a Convention of States, to rein in the US government’s power.

“I know this: Politics doesn’t like losers,” said Mr. McConnell, who
suggested that a high-profile series of defeats would deflate the groups.
“If you don’t have anything to point to, it is kind of hard to keep it going.”

It is being reported in a whole ton of sources. He said it alright.

Mitch McConnell has got to be removed from office. If he sucessfully wins the nomination, then we may have to bite the bullet and run a Tea Party Challenger against him in the general election.

Under no circumstances can conservatives give this man any support. EVER.

Mitch McConnell must be crushed. And the Tea Party must do the work.

Bevin or Bust!

I really don’t believe it at all......not at all. He’s not THAT stupid.

It is 9:30 AM in Washington. McConnell has had a few hours to finish his coffee and bourbon and take to the microphone to deny this statement. So far... crickets.

Yes, McConnell is THAT stupid.

He epitomizes the mindset of the Republican Party. They claim to be conservative but in reality they’re all careerists who defend THEIR PLACE in the big government structure. Those who call for smaller government are seen as enemies.

What I don’t get is how stupid these RINOs are to state this out loud. A smarter RINO strategy would be to fight the conservatives covertly and say nothing bad about the base in hopes of getting a few extra votes come election time.

I agree! The establishment GOP don't want us and is willing to poison the well let's go ahead and start over with a new party. What's the difference, between Liberal Republicans and Democrats anyway?
