SEVASTOPOL/KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine's government appealed for Western help on Tuesday to stop Moscow annexing Crimea but the Black Sea peninsula, overrun by Russian troops, seemed fixed on a course that could formalize rule from Moscow within days.
With their own troops in Crimea effectively prisoners in their bases, the new authorities in Kiev painted a sorry picture of the military bequeathed them by the pro-Moscow president overthrown two weeks ago. They announced the raising of a new National Guard to be drawn from volunteers among veterans.
The prime minister, heading for talks at the White House and United Nations, told parliament in Kiev he wanted the United States and Britain, as guarantors of a 1994 treaty that saw Ukraine give up its Soviet nuclear weapons, to intervene both diplomatically and militarily to fend off Russian "aggression".
But despite NATO reconnaissance aircraft patrolling the Polish and Romanian borders and U.S. naval forces preparing for exercises in the Black Sea, Western powers have made clear that, as when ex-Soviet Georgia lost territory in fighting in 2008, they have no appetite for risking turning the worst East-West crisis since the Cold War into a military conflict with Moscow.

Sounds like have no intentions of finishing what they started....they poked the Bear and now they want to claim Agreements bind us to them... they want us to put our military men on the line against Russia?.....I don't think so....
The last thing they want is to separate from the gravy train that is the rest of Canada. Quebec already has one of the most inhospitable business climates in the world. If it were an independent country it wouldn't have the rest of Canada to prop it up.
Is the puppet government in Kiev willing to resign and go back to the international agreement that was negotiated and signed on February 21st?

......... a political agreement signed by Russia, America and United Kingdom one of the requirements was:
“Refrain from using economic pressure on Ukraine in order to influence its politics.”
So now agreements are suppose to matter...they are all making rules as they go....period.

After the fall of Soviet Union, the US and NATO believed that they owned the world and acted accordingly, in a ruthless way, destabilizing the whole planet Earth.
And here they stumbled upon a tough bone they can’t chew at - V.Putin. They can’t make war to him - he has nukes. They can’t use the gimmick called UN against him, he has veto power in the Security Council. They can’t blackmail him, he keeps Europe by its energy needs’ balls and Boeing by its need of rare metals. They can’t ruin him, Russia’s soil and reserves being filthy rich, with only 10% of this richness exploited (until the freezed permafrost will melt). Wait until Putin industrialises Siberia.
Besides , he’s got on his side the rising economy stars India and China.
Those three can counterbalance NATO and US in the future. And the US cannot count on the EU, which reduced drastically the military budgets in the last 50 years and will go on the way of the other Union - the Soviets - by desintegrating. The national feelings in the European countries are back. People hate being bossed by the Brussels Comission, an unelected body. They want their countries back.

No. It wasn’t a treaty and it is not considered legally binding by anyone. It was characterized as at the time as a “memorandum.”
Even if we had a treaty that demanded we take military action here, no sane leader would do so.
