I have no idea; at this point I think that the Republican/Democrat dichotomy is a false-dichotomy. -- The Republican party puts no resistance against the Democrat policies, even when there is ample grounds (and support) to do so. (e.g. Fast and Furious, NSA domestic spying, IRS Political Targeting, Benghazi, Obamacare, etc.)

They do not fight it because they agree with it.
